Philippians 4
4
1 Therefore, my beloved and deeply cherished brothers, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, beloved.
Exhortation to Unity
2 I exhort* Euodia and I exhort* Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 Yes, I ask you also, genuine yokefellow,* help these women* who wrestled side by side with me in the gospel,* with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Final Exhortations
4 Rejoice in the Lord at all times; again, I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be made known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious about nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God* that transcends all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds* in Christ Jesus.*
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just,* whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever deserves commendation—if there is any excellence, and if there is anything worthy of praise—think on these things. 9 And whatever you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practise these things. And the God of peace will be with you.
Contentment in Every Situation
10 But I rejoiced greatly in the Lord, that now, at last, you have revived your concern for me, for whom you were indeed concerned, but you lacked opportunity to express it.* 11 Not that I speak with respect to need, for I have learned to be content in whatever situation* I am. 12 I indeed know how to be brought low, and I know how to thrive in abundance. In everything and in all things,* I have learned the secret—both to be filled and to hunger, both to abound and to suffer lack. 13 I can do all things through the One who strengthens me.* 14 Nevertheless, you did well by sharing with me in my affliction.
15 And you also know, Philippians, that in the beginning of the gospel,* when I departed from Macedonia, no church partnered with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you alone; 16 for even in Thessalonica, you sent support* for my needs* more than once.* 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit which increases to your account. 18 But I have received everything and am thriving in abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts* from you—a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. 19 And my God will fully satisfy all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
20 Now to our God and Father be glory, forever and ever.* Amen.
Final Greetings and Benediction
21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers with me greet you. 22 All the saints greet you, and particularly those of Caesar’s household. 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.* Amen.*
