2 Thessalonians 3

3
Paul's Appeal for Prayer
1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may advance speedily and be glorified, just as it was also with you, 2 and that we may be delivered from improper* and evil men,* for not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who will strengthen you and guard you against the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will do the things which we are commanding.
Pauline Prayer
5 Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the perseverance of Christ.
Warning Against Idleness
6 And we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which they received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, that we did not behave disorderly among you, 8 nor did we eat bread from anyone freely, but with labour and toil, working night and day so as not to burden any of you. 9 It was* not that we do not have the right, but that we might offer ourselves as an example for you, so that you would imitate us. 10 For even when we were with you, we consistently issued this command, that if anyone is not willing to work, then he should not eat, either. 11 For we hear that some among you are walking disorderly, not working at all, but being busybodies. 12 Now such individuals we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ* that, working with quietness, they may eat their own bread.
13 But you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing what is right. 14 But if anyone does not obey our message in this letter, mark this person, and do not associate with him, so that he may be put to shame. 15 Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Pauline Prayer
16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself grant you peace continually* in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
Greeting
17 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand—which is a mark of authenticity in every letter. This is the way I write. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.*
