His foundation is on holy mountains,
2The Lord loves the gates#The gates: the city itself, a common Hebrew idiom. of Zion
more than any dwelling in Jacob.
3Glorious things are said of you,
O city of God!

4Rahab and Babylon I count
among those who know me.
See, Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia,
“This one was born there.”
5#The bond between the exile and the holy city was so strong as to override the exile’s citizenship of lesser cities.And of Zion it will be said:
“Each one was born in it.”#Gal 4:26.
The Most High will establish it;#Ps 48:9.
6the Lord notes in the register of the peoples:
“This one was born there.”#Is 4:3.

7So singers and dancers:
“All my springs are in you.”#Ps 68:26; 149:3.

By Korah’s descendants; a psalm; a song.
1 ⌞The city⌟ the Lord has founded ⌞stands⌟ on holy mountains.
2The Lord loves the city of Zion
more than any other place in Jacob.
3Glorious things are said about you, O city of God! Selah
4 ⌞The Lord says,⌟ “I will add Egypt and Babylon
as well as Philistia, Tyre, and Sudan
to the list of those who acknowledge me.
Each nation ⌞will claim that it⌟ was born there.”
5But it will be said of Zion,
“Every race is born in it.
The Most High will make it secure.”
6The Lord will record this in the Book of Nations:
“Every race ⌞claims that it⌟ was born there.” Selah
7Singers and dancers will sing,
“Zion is the source of all our blessings.”
