His foundation is on holy mountains,
2The Lord loves the gates#The gates: the city itself, a common Hebrew idiom. of Zion
more than any dwelling in Jacob.
3Glorious things are said of you,
O city of God!

4Rahab and Babylon I count
among those who know me.
See, Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia,
“This one was born there.”
5#The bond between the exile and the holy city was so strong as to override the exile’s citizenship of lesser cities.And of Zion it will be said:
“Each one was born in it.”#Gal 4:26.
The Most High will establish it;#Ps 48:9.
6the Lord notes in the register of the peoples:
“This one was born there.”#Is 4:3.

7So singers and dancers:
“All my springs are in you.”#Ps 68:26; 149:3.

Glorious Things of You Are Spoken
A Psalm of #Ps. 42, titlethe Sons of Korah. A Song.
1On #See Ps. 48:1 the holy mount #Isa. 28:16stands the city he founded;
2the Lord #Ps. 78:67, 68loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.

4Among those who #Ps. 36:10; [John 10:14] know me I mention #See Job 9:13; See Isa. 19:22-25 Rahab and Babylon;

“This one was born there,” they say.
5And of Zion it shall be said,
“This one and that one were born in her”;
