Psalms 60
60
A Prayer for Deliverance#Ps 60 Hebrew title: A psalm by David, for teaching, when he fought against the Arameans from Naharaim and from Zobah, and Joab turned back and killed 12,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt.#2 Sam 8.13; 1 Chr 18.12
1You have rejected us, God, and defeated us;
you have been angry with us — but now turn back to us.#60.1 angry with us… us; or angry with us and turned your back on us.
2You have made the land tremble, and you have cut it open;
now heal its wounds, because it is falling apart.
3You have made your people suffer greatly;
we stagger around as though we were drunk.
4You have warned those who show you reverence,
so that they might escape destruction.
5Save us by your might; answer our prayer,
so that the people you love may be rescued.
6From his sanctuary#60.6 From his sanctuary; or In his holiness. God has said,
“In triumph I will divide Shechem
and distribute the Valley of Sukkoth to my people.
7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh too;
Ephraim is my helmet
and Judah my royal sceptre.
8But I will use Moab as my washbasin
and I will throw my sandals on Edom,
as a sign that I own it.
Did the Philistines think they would shout in triumph over me?”
9Who, O God, will take me into the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
10Have you really rejected us?
Aren't you going to march out with our armies?
11Help us against the enemy;
human help is worthless.
12With God on our side we will win;
he will defeat our enemies.

(For the one directing. Set to The Shushan of the Edut. Mikhtam Dovid to instruct. When he fought Aram Naharayim and Aram Tzova and when Yoav returned and struck down 12,000 of Edom in the Gey Melach)
1 O Elohim, Thou hath rejected us, scattered us; Thou hast been angry; O restore us!
2 Thou hast made eretz to tremble; Thou hast torn it asunder, heal the fractures thereof; for it tottereth.
3 Thou hast showed Thy people kashah (hard times); Thou hast made us to drink the yayin of tarelah (bewilderment, reeling).
4 Thou hast set up a nes (banner) to them that fear Thee, that it may be unfurled on account of the truth. Selah
5 That Thy Yedidot (beloved ones) may be saved; save with Thy Yamin (Right Hand) and hear me.
6 Elohim hath spoken in His Kodesh (Holiness); I will exult, I will parcel Shechem as chelek, and measure out the Valley of Sukkot.
7 Gil'ad is Mine, and Menasheh is Mine; Ephrayim also is the ma'oz of Mine Rosh; Yehudah is My Mekhokek (prescriber of laws, lawgiver).#60:7 See Gn 49:10; Isa 42:4 on Moshiachʼs torah
8 Moav is My washpot; over Edom will I cast My sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.
9 Who will bring me to the Ir Matzon (city of fortification)? Who will bring me to Edom?
10 Wilt not Thou, O Elohim, which hadst cast us off? And Thou, O Elohim, which didst not go out with tzivoteinu (our armies)?
11 Give us help against the enemy; for vain is the teshuat adam (help, salvation of or from Man).
12 In Elohim shall we obtain the victory; for He it is that shall tread down tzareinu (our enemies, oppressors).
