Psalms 132
132
In Praise of the Temple
1 LORD, do not forget David
and all the hardships he endured.
2Remember, LORD, what he promised,
the vow he made to you, the Mighty God of Jacob:
3“I will not go home or go to bed;
4I will not rest or sleep,
5until I provide a place for the LORD,
a home for the Mighty God of Jacob.”

2 Chr 6.41–42
In Bethlehem we heard about the Covenant Box,
and we found it in the fields of Jearim.
7We said, “Let us go to the LORD's house;
let us worship before his throne.”
8Come to the Temple, LORD, with the Covenant Box,
the symbol of your power,
and stay here for ever.
9May your priests do always what is right;
may your people shout for joy!
10You made a promise to your servant David;
do not reject your chosen king, LORD.

2 Sam 7.12–16; 1 Chr 17.11–14; Ps 89.3–4; Acts 2.30 You made a solemn promise to David —
a promise you will not take back:
“I will make one of your sons king,
and he will rule after you.
12If your sons are true to my covenant
and to the commands I give them,
their sons, also, will succeed you for all time as kings.”
13The LORD has chosen Zion;
he wants to make it his home:
14“This is where I will live for ever;
this is where I want to rule.
15I will richly provide Zion with all she needs;
I will satisfy her poor with food.
16I will bless her priests in all they do,
and her people will sing and shout for joy.

1 Kgs 11.36
Here I will make one of David's descendants a great king;
here I will preserve the rule of my chosen king.
18I will cover his enemies with shame,
but his kingdom will prosper and flourish.”

Tehillim 132

(Shir HaMa'alot)
1 Hashem, remember Dovid, and all his afflictions;
2How he swore unto Hashem, and vowed unto Avir Ya'akov (the Mighty One of Ya'akov);
3Surely I will not come into the ohel of my bais, nor go up into my bed;
4I will not give sleep to mine eyes, nor tenumah (slumber) to mine eyelids,
5Until I find a makom (place) for Hashem, even mishkanot for the Avir Ya'akov.
6Hinei, we heard of it at Ephratah; we found it in the sedei Ya'ar (fields of Ya'ar).
7We will go into His mishkanot; we will worship at the hadom (footstool) of His raglayim.
8Arise, Hashem, into Thy menuchah (resting place); Thou, and the Aron of Thy oz (might).
9Let Thy Kohanim be clothed with tzedek; and let Thy chasidim sing for joy.
10For the sake of Dovid Thy Eved, do not turn away the face of Thine Moshiach.#132:10 See Isa 52:13; 53:11
11 Hashem hath sworn in emes unto Dovid; He will not turn from His oath: Of the p'ri (fruit) of thy beten (body) will I set upon thy kisse (throne).
12If thy Banim are shomer over My Brit and My Edot that I shall teach them, their Banim shall also sit upon thy kisse adei-ad (forevermore).
13For Hashem hath chosen Tziyon; He hath desired her for His moshav.
14This is My menuchah (resting place) adei-ad (forever); here will I dwell; for I have desired her.
15I will place a bountiful brocha on her provision; I will satisfy her poor with lechem.
16I will also clothe her Kohanim with Yesha (salvation); and her chasidim shall sing aloud for joy.
17There atzmi'ach (I will make sprout)#132:17 i.e., Tzemach the Keren of Dovid; I have ordained a ner (lamp) for My Moshiach.
18His oyevim will I clothe with boshet (shame); but upon him#132:18 Moshiach shall his nezer (crown) be resplendent.
