Psalm 124
124
1 A Canticle in steps. Those who trust in the Lord will be like the mountain of Zion. He will not be disturbed for eternity, who dwells
2 in Jerusalem. Mountains surround it. And the Lord surrounds his people, from this time forward and even forever.
3 For the Lord will not allow the rod of sinners to remain over the lot of the just, so that the just may not extend their hands toward iniquity.
4 Do good, O Lord, to the good and to the upright of heart.
5 But those who turn away into obligation, the Lord will lead away with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.

The Lord Is on Our Side
A Davidic song of ascents.
1If the Lord had not been on our side —
let Israel say —
2If the Lord had not been on our side # Ps 94:17
when men attacked us, # Ps 129:1
3then they would have swallowed us alive
in their burning anger against us. # Ps 35:25; 56:1; Pr 1:12
4Then the waters would have engulfed us;
the torrent would have swept over us;
5the raging waters would have swept over us. # Jb 22:11; Ps 32:6; 69:2
6Praise the Lord,
who has not let us be ripped apart by their teeth. # Ps 27:2; Pr 30:14
7We have escaped like a bird from the hunter’s net;
the net is torn, and we have escaped. # Ps 91:3
8Our help is in the name of Yahweh,
the Maker of heaven and earth. # Ps 115:15; 121:2
