Psalms 103
103
A song of David.
1My soul, praise the Lord!
Every part of me, praise his holy name!
2My soul, praise the Lord
and never forget how kind he is!
3He forgives all our sins
and heals all our sicknesses.
4He saves us from the grave,
and he gives us love and compassion.
5He gives us plenty of good things.
He makes us young again,
like an eagle that grows new feathers.
6The Lord does what is fair.
He brings justice to all who have been hurt by others.
7He taught his laws to Moses.
He let Israel see the powerful things he can do.
8The Lord is kind and merciful.
He is patient and full of love.
9He does not always criticize.
He does not stay angry with us forever.
10We sinned against him,
but he didn’t give us the punishment we deserved.
11His love for his followers is
as high above us as heaven is above the earth.
12And he has taken our sins
as far away from us as the east is from the west.
13The Lord is as kind to his followers
as a father is to his children.
14He knows all about us.
He knows we are made from dust.
15He knows our lives are short, that they are like grass.
He knows we are like a little wildflower that grows so quickly,
16but when the hot wind blows, it dies.
Soon, you cannot even see where the flower was.
17But the Lord has always loved his followers,
and he will continue to love them forever and ever!
He will be good to all their descendants,
18to those who are faithful to his agreement
and who remember to obey his commands.
19The Lord set his throne up in heaven,
and he rules over everything.
20Angels, praise the Lord!
You angels are the powerful soldiers who obey his commands.
You listen to him and obey his commands.
21Praise the Lord, all his armies.#103:21 armies This word can mean “armies,” “angels,” or the “stars and planets.” This word is part of the name translated “Lord All-Powerful.” It shows that God is in control of all the powers in the universe.
You are his servants,
and you do what he wants.
22Everything the Lord has made should praise him
throughout the world that he rules!
My soul, praise the Lord!

Psalm 103
103
Bless the Lord, O My Soul
Of David.
1 # ver. 22; Ps. 104:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 # [See ver. 1 above] Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and #Deut. 6:12; 8:11forget not all his benefits,
3who #Ex. 34:7; Isa. 33:24; Matt. 9:2; Mark 2:5; [Luke 7:47] forgives all your iniquity,
who #Ps. 107:20; 147:3; Ex. 15:26; [Matt. 8:17]heals all your diseases,
4who #See Ps. 56:13 redeems your life from the pit,
who #[Ps. 5:12]crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5who #Ps. 107:9 satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like #Isa. 40:31the eagle’s.
6The Lord works #Ps. 146:7righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7He made known his #Ex. 33:13; [Ps. 25:4] ways to Moses,
his #[Ps. 78:11; Ex. 34:10]acts to the people of Israel.
8The Lord is #See Ps. 86:15merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 #
Isa. 57:16 He will not always chide,
nor will he #Ps. 30:5; Jer. 3:5, 12; Mic. 7:18keep his anger forever.
10He does not deal with us #Ezra 9:13according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11For #See Ps. 36:5 as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his #Ps. 117:2 steadfast love toward #ver. 13, 17; Luke 1:50those who fear him;
12as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he #[Isa. 38:17; 43:25; Mic. 7:19]remove our transgressions from us.
13As #Mal. 3:17 a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion #[See ver. 11 above]to those who fear him.
14For he knows our frame;#103:14 Or knows how we are formed
he #Ps. 78:39remembers that we are dust.
15As for man, his days are like #Ps. 90:5 grass;
he flourishes like #See Job 14:2a flower of the field;
16for #Isa. 40:7 the wind passes over it, and #Ps. 37:36 it is gone,
and #See Job 7:10its place knows it no more.
17But #Ps. 25:6 the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on #[See ver. 11 above] those who fear him,
and his righteousness to #Ex. 20:5, 6children’s children,
18to those who #Deut. 7:9 keep his covenant
and #Ps. 19:8remember to do his commandments.
19The Lord has #Ps. 11:4; 93:2 established his throne in the heavens,
and his #Ps. 47:2; Dan. 4:17kingdom rules over all.
20Bless the Lord, O you #Ps. 148:2; [Luke 2:13] his angels,
you #Ps. 78:25 mighty ones who #Matt. 6:10do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21Bless the Lord, all his #Gen. 32:2; Josh. 5:14; 1 Kgs. 22:19 hosts,
his #Ps. 104:4; Dan. 7:10; Heb. 1:14ministers, who do his will!
22 #
Ps. 145:10 Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
# ver. 1, 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul!
