The Borders of Canaan
1The Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 2“Speak to the Israelites and tell them this: You will soon enter the land of Canaan. I am giving you that land to be your very own. These will be its borders: 3On the south, you will get part of the desert of Zin near Edom. Your southern border will start at the south end of the Dead Sea. 4It will cross south of Scorpion Pass. It will go through the town of Zin to Kadesh Barnea and then to Hazar Addar, and then it will pass through Azmon. 5From Azmon the border will go to the River of Egypt,#34:5 River of Egypt That is, the stream called “Wadi El-Arish.” and it will end at the Mediterranean Sea. 6Your western border will be the Mediterranean Sea. 7Your northern border will begin at the Mediterranean Sea and go to Mount Hor. 8From Mount Hor it will go to Lebo Hamath, and then to Zedad. 9Then that border will go to Ziphron and it will end at Hazar Enan. So that will be your northern border. 10Your eastern border will begin at Enan and it will go to Shepham. 11From Shepham the border will go east of Ain to Riblah. The border will continue along the hills by Lake Galilee.#34:11 Lake Galilee Literally, “Kinnereth Lake.” 12Then the border will continue along the Jordan River. It will end at the Dead Sea. These are the borders around your country.”
13So Moses gave this command to the Israelites, “That is the land that you will get. You will throw lots to divide the land among the nine tribes and half the tribe of Manasseh, as the Lord commanded. 14The tribes of Reuben and Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already taken their land. 15These two and a half tribes took the land near Jericho—they took the land east of the Jordan River.”
16Then the Lord spoke to Moses. He said, 17“These are the men who will help you divide the land: Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, 18and the leaders of all the tribes. There will be one leader from each tribe. These men will divide the land. 19These are the names of the leaders:
from the tribe of Judah—Caleb son of Jephunneh;
20from the tribe of Simeon—Shemuel son of Ammihud;
21from the tribe of Benjamin—Elidad son of Kislon;
22from the tribe of Dan—Bukki son of Jogli;
23from the descendants of Joseph;
from the tribe of Manasseh—Hanniel son of Ephod;
24from the tribe of Ephraim—Kemuel son of Shiphtan;
25from the tribe of Zebulun—Elizaphan son of Parnach;
26from the tribe of Issachar—Paltiel son of Azzan;
27from the tribe of Asher—Ahihud son of Shelomi;
28from the tribe of Naphtali—Pedahel son of Ammihud.”
29The Lord chose these men to divide the land of Canaan among the Israelites.

1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, 2Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan, this shall be the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan according to the borders thereof. 3Then your south side shall be from the wilderness of Zin alongside of Edom, and your southern border shall be from the end of the salt sea eastward; 4and your border shall turn from the south of the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin, and shall end southward at Kadesh-barnea, and shall go on to Hazar-Addar, and pass on to Azmon. 5And the border shall turn from Azmon unto the torrent of Egypt, and shall end at the sea. 6And as west border ye shall have the great sea, and its coast. This shall be your west border. 7And this shall be your north border: from the great sea ye shall mark out for you mount Hor; 8from mount Hor ye shall mark out the entrance to Hamath, and the end of the border shall be toward Zedad; 9and the border shall go to Ziphron, and shall end at Hazar-enan. This shall be your north border. 10And ye shall mark out for you as eastern border from Hazar-enan to Shepham: 11and the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall strike upon the extremity of the sea of Chinnereth eastward; 12and the border shall go down to the Jordan, and shall end at the salt sea. This shall be your land according to the borders thereof round about. 13And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall take for yourselves as inheritance by lot, which Jehovah commanded to give to the nine tribes, and to the half tribe. 14For the tribe of the children of the Reubenites according to their fathers' houses, and the tribe of the children of the Gadites according to their fathers' houses, have received, and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance; 15the two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side the Jordan of Jericho eastward, toward the sun-rising.
16And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, 17These are the names of the men who shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun. 18And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land. 19And these are the names of the men: for the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh; 20and for the tribe of the children of Simeon, Samuel the son of Ammihud; 21for the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon; 22and for the tribe of the children of Dan, a prince, Bukki the son of Jogli; 23for the children of Joseph: for the tribe of the children of Manasseh, a prince, Hanniel the son of Ephod, 24and for the tribe of the children of Ephraim, a prince, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan; 25and for the tribe of the children of Zebulun, a prince, Elizaphan the son of Pharnach; 26and for the tribe of the children of Issachar, a prince, Phaltiel the son of Azzan; 27and for the tribe of the children of Asher, a prince, Ahihud the son of Shelomi; 28and for the tribe of the children of Naphtali, a prince, Phedahel the son of Ammihud. 29These are they whom Jehovah commanded to distribute to the children of Israel their inheritance in the land of Canaan.
