Zechariah 10

A Bright Future for Judah and Israel

1I, the Lord, am the one

who sends storm clouds

and showers of rain

to make fields produce.

So when the crops need rain,

you should pray to me.

2 # Mt 9.36; Mk 6.34. You can't believe idols

and fortunetellers,

or depend on the hope

you receive from witchcraft

and interpreters of dreams.

But you have tried all of these,

and now you are like sheep

without a shepherd.

3I, the Lord All-Powerful,

am fiercely angry

with you leaders,

and I will punish you.

I care for my people,

the nation of Judah,

and I will change

this flock of sheep

into charging war horses.

4From this flock will come leaders

who will be strong

like cornerstones and tent pegs

and weapons of war.

5They will join in the fighting,

and together they will trample

their enemies like mud.

They will fight,

because I, the Lord,

will be on their side.

And they will crush

the enemy cavalry.

6I will strengthen

the kingdoms of Judah

and Israel.#10.6 Israel: The Hebrew text has “family of Joseph,” the ancestor of Ephraim and Manasseh, the leading tribes of the northern kingdom (Israel).

And I will show mercy

because I am the Lord,

their God.

I will answer their prayers

and bring them home.

Then it will seem as though

I had never rejected them.

7Israel#10.7 Israel: Hebrew “Ephraim” (see the note at 9.10). will be like

a tribe of warriors

celebrating with wine.

When their children see this,

they will also be happy

because of me, the Lord.

8I will give a signal

for them to come together

because I have rescued them.

And there will be as many

as ever before.

in distant countries,

they won't forget me.

they will return—

10I will bring them home

from Egypt and Assyria,

then let them settle

as far as Gilead and Lebanon,

until the land overflows

with them.

11My people will go through

an ocean of troubles,

but I will overcome the waves

and dry up the deepest part

of the Nile.

Assyria's great pride

will be put down,

and the power of Egypt

will disappear.

12I'll strengthen my people

because of who I am,

and they will follow me.

I, the Lord, have spoken!

Ang Pagliligtas ni Yahweh sa Kanyang Bayan

1Humingi kayo ng ulan kay Yahweh, sa panahon ng tagsibol.

Sa kanya na lumilikha ng ulap at hamog na nagpapasariwa sa mga pananim.

2Ang#Mt. 9:36; Mc. 6:34. mga diyus-diyosan ay wala ng kabuluhan;

ang pangitain ng mga manghuhula ay pawang kasinungalingan;

ang mga panaginip nila'y walang katotohanan;

ang kanilang sinasabi'y wala ring kabuluhan.

Kaya't mga tao'y parang tupang naliligaw,

pagkat walang pastol na sa kanila'y umaakay.

3Ang mga pastol ay aking kinapopootan,

at ang mga pinuno ay aking paparusahan.

Mahal ko ang Juda, kaya siya'y iingatan,

palalakasin ko silang parang kabayo sa digmaan.

4Sa kanila magmumula ang batong-panulukan;

sa kanila manggagaling ang tulos ng tolda;

sa kanila magmumula ang panang panudla,

mula rin sa kanila ang pinunong mamamahala.

5Ang mga anak ng Juda ay mabubuo at sila'y magiging isang malakas na hukbo.

Ang kaaway nila'y kanilang yuyurakan, kanilang tatapakan sa maputik na lansangan.

Sila ay lalaban sapagkat si Yahweh ang kanilang patnubay;

ibabagsak nila ang mga kawal na kabayuhan.

6“Ang sambahayan ni Juda'y bibigyan ko ng lakas;

ang sambahayan ni Jose'y aking ililigtas.

Ibabalik ko sila sa dating tirahan;

sapagkat sila ay aking kinahabagan, na para bang di ko sila pinabayaan.

Ako si Yahweh, ang kanilang Diyos,

aking diringgin ang kanilang dalangin.

7Ang mga taga-Efraim ay magdiriwang, katulad nila'y kawal na nagtagumpay.

Aawit sila sa galak na parang nakainom ng alak.

Makikita ito ng mga anak nila at matutuwa,

si Yahweh ay pupurihin sapagkat siya ang gumawa.

8“Tatawagin ko sila at muling titipunin,

sa mga kaaway sila'y aking tutubusin;

at tulad noong una, sila'y pararamihin.

9Bagaman#Bar. 2:20-32. sila'y pinangalat ko sa iba't ibang mga bansa,

hindi nila ako malilimutan doon,

sila at ang mga anak nila'y maliligtas at makakabalik sa kanilang tahanan.

10Sila'y aking ibabalik mula sa Egipto,

at aking titipunin mula sa Asiria;

upang iuwi sa Gilead at Lebanon,

hanggang ang lupain ay mapuno ng tao.

11Tatawid sila sa dagat ng Egipto,

at papayapain ko ang malalaking alon nito;

aking tutuyuin ang Ilog Nilo.

Ibabagsak ko ang Asiria na palalo,

maging setro ng Egipto'y tiyak na maglalaho.

12Ang aking bayan ay aking palalakasin,

susundin nila ako at sasambahin.”

Ako si Yahweh, ang nagsabi nito.
