The Angel and the Little Scroll
1I saw another powerful angel come down from heaven. This one was covered with a cloud, and a rainbow was over his head. His face was like the sun, his legs were like columns of fire, 2and with his hand he held a little scroll#10.2 scroll: See the note at 5.1. that had been unrolled. He stood there with his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land. 3Then he shouted with a voice that sounded like a growling lion. Thunder roared seven times.
4After the thunder stopped, I was about to write what it had said. But a voice from heaven shouted, āKeep it secret! Don't write these things.ā

Ex 20.11; Dt 32.40; Dn 12.7; Am 3.7. The angel I had seen standing on the sea and the land then held his right hand up toward heaven. 6He made a promise in the name of God who lives forever and who created heaven, earth, the sea, and every living creature. The angel said, āYou won't have to wait any longer. 7God told his secret plans to his servants the prophets, and it will all happen by the time the seventh angel sounds his trumpet.ā

Ez 2.8ā3.3. Once again the voice from heaven spoke to me. It said, āGo and take the open scroll from the hand of the angel standing on the sea and the land.ā
9When I went over to ask the angel for the little scroll, the angel said, āTake the scroll and eat it! Your stomach will turn sour, but the taste in your mouth will be sweet as honey.ā 10I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. The taste was sweet as honey, but my stomach turned sour.
11Then some voices said, āKeep on telling what will happen to the people of many nations, races, and languages, and also to kings.ā

The Angel and the Little Book
1I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud; and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire; 2and he had in his hand a little book which was open. He placed his right foot on the sea and his left on the land; 3and he cried out with a loud voice, as when a lion roars; and when he had cried out, the seven peals of thunder uttered their voices. 4When the seven peals of thunder had spoken, I was about to write; and I heard a voice from heaven saying, āSeal up the things which the seven peals of thunder have spoken and do not write them.ā 5Then the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven, 6and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things in it, and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, that there will be delay no longer, 7but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as He preached to His servants the prophets.
8Then the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying, āGo, take the book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land.ā 9So I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book. And he *said to me, āTake it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.ā 10I took the little book out of the angelās hand and ate it, and in my mouth it was sweet as honey; and when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter. 11And they *said to me, āYou must prophesy again concerning many peoples and nations and tongues and kings.ā
