The Lord Chooses Bezalel and Oholiab
(Exodus 35.30—36.1)
1The Lord said to Moses:
2I have chosen Bezalel#31.2 Bezalel: Hebrew “Bezalel, son of Uri and grandson of Hur.” from the Judah tribe to make the sacred tent and its furnishings. 3-5Not only have I filled him with my Spirit, but I have given him wisdom and made him a skilled craftsman who can create objects of art with gold, silver, bronze, precious stones, and wood. 6I have appointed Oholiab#31.6 Oholiab: Hebrew “Oholiab son of Ahisamach.” from the tribe of Dan to work with him, and I have also given skills to those who will help them make everything exactly as I have commanded you: 7-11the sacred tent with its furnishings, the sacred chest with its place of mercy, the table with all that is on it, the lamp with its equipment, the incense altar, the altar for sacrifices with its equipment, the bronze bowl with its stand, the beautiful priestly clothes for Aaron and his sons, the oil for dedication and ordination services, and the sweet-smelling incense for the holy place.
Laws for the Sabbath
12-13Moses told the Israelites that the Lord had said:
The Sabbath belongs to me. Now I command you and your descendants to always obey the laws of the Sabbath. By doing this, you will know that I have chosen you as my own. 14-15#Ex 20.8-11; 23.12; 34.21; 35.2; Lv 23.3; Dt 5.12-14. Keep the Sabbath holy. You have six days to do your work, but the Sabbath is mine, and it must remain a day of rest. If you work on the Sabbath, you will no longer be part of my people, and you will be put to death.
16Every generation of Israelites must respect the Sabbath. 17#Ex 20.11. This day will always serve as a reminder, both to me and to the Israelites, that I made the heavens and the earth in six days, then on the seventh day I rested and relaxed.
18When God had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two flat stones on which he had written all his laws with his own hand.

The Call of Bezaleel and Aholiab
(Exodus 35.30—36.1)
1And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2See, I have called by name Bez´aleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: 3and I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, 4to devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, 5and in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship. 6And I, behold, I have given with him Aho´li-ab, the son of Ahis´amach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee; 7the tabernacle of the congregation, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the tabernacle, 8and the table and his furniture, and the pure candlestick with all his furniture, and the altar of incense, 9and the altar of burnt offering with all his furniture, and the laver and his foot, 10and the clothes of service, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office, 11and the anointing oil, and sweet incense for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.
The Sabbath as a Sign
12And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 13Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. 14Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you. Every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 15#Exod 20.8-11; 23.12; 34.21; 35.2; Lev 23.3; Deut 5.12-14. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. 17It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
The Golden Calf
(Deuteronomy 9.6-29)
18And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Si´nai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
