Psalms 141
141
Psalm 141
A psalm of David.
1I cry out to you, LORD: Come to me—quickly!
Listen to my voice when I cry out to you!
2Let my prayer stand before you like incense;
let my uplifted hands be like the evening offering.
3Set a guard over my mouth, LORD;
keep close watch over the door that is my lips.
4Don’t let my heart turn aside to evil things
so that I don’t do wicked things with evildoers,
so I don’t taste their delicacies.
5Instead, let the righteous discipline me;
let the faithful correct me!
Let my head never reject that kind of fine oil,
because my prayers are always against the deeds of the wicked.#141.5 Heb uncertain
6Their leaders will fall from jagged cliffs,
but my words will be heard because they are pleasing.#141.6 Heb uncertain
7Our bones#141.7 LXX manuscripts, Syr their bones; DSS (11QPsa) my bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave,#141.7 Heb Sheol
just like when the ground is broken up and plowed.#141.7 Heb uncertain
8But my eyes are on you, my LORD God.
I take refuge in you; don’t let me die!
9Protect me from the trap they’ve set for me;
protect me from the snares of the evildoers.
10Let the wicked fall into their own nets—all together!—
but let me make it through safely.

Psalms 141

An Evening Prayer#Ps 141 Hebrew title: A psalm by David.
1I call to you, LORD; help me now!
Listen to me when I call to you.

Rev 5.8
Receive my prayer as incense,
my uplifted hands as an evening sacrifice.
3 LORD, place a guard at my mouth,
a sentry at the door of my lips.
4Keep me from wanting to do wrong
and from joining evil people in their wickedness.
May I never take part in their feasts.
5Good people may punish me and rebuke me in kindness,
but I will never accept honour from evil people,
because I am always praying against their evil deeds.
6When their rulers are thrown down from rocky cliffs,
the people will admit that my words were true.
7Like wood that is split and chopped into bits,
so their bones are scattered at the edge of the grave.#141.7 Verses 5–7 in Hebrew are unclear.
8But I keep trusting in you, my Sovereign LORD.
I seek your protection;
don't let me die!
9Protect me from the traps they have set for me,
from the snares of those evildoers.
10May the wicked fall into their own traps
while I go by unharmed.
