For millennia, God’s people have been carrying out a weekly Bible study plan. Every year, they read through the Torah from Genesis to Deuteronomy. In synagogue each week, they read and study a Bible passage—the weekly parshah. This week’s parshah is called “Vayigash,” which is Hebrew for “and he came near,” and covers Genesis 44:18-47:27.

Christians are different. They can’t help it. When you’re born again and filled with the Spirit, it changes you. This leads to different values about right and wrong, and a different lifestyle to match it. This series of 5-day plans uses the 10 Commandments (following the classic Augustinian ordering) as a vehicle for an alternative, Christ-like morality and Jesus-way of living.

Like Joseph’s story, our own stories contain places of brokenness and experiences of rejection, jealousy, injustice, and grief. We also find glimpses of hope, perseverance, forgiveness, and unexpected blessing. This plan will guide you in an honest exploration of your own experiences and how they’ve shaped you. You’ll watch the God of Israel miraculously reconcile and restore Joseph and his family, while you reflect on your own journey of healing.
