Ḥazon (Revelation) 8
8
1And when He opened the seventh seal, there came to be silence in the heaven for about half an hour.
2And I saw the seven messengers who stand before Elohim, and to them were given seven trumpets.
3And another messenger came and stood at the slaughter-place, holding a golden censer, and much incense was given to him, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the set-apart ones upon the golden slaughter-place which was before the throne.
4And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the set-apart ones, went up before Elohim from the hand of the messenger.
5And the messenger took the censer, and filled it with fire from the slaughter-place, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, and thunders, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
6And the seven messengers who held the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
7And the first messenger sounded, and there came to be hail and fire mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
8And the second messenger sounded, and what looked like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood,
9and a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10And the third messenger sounded, and a great star fell from the heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the fountains of water,
11and the name of the star is called Wormwood. And a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.
12And the fourth messenger sounded, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. And a third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.#Compare with Exo. 10:21; Isa. 50:3; Jer. 4:23-29; Zech. 13:8; Joel 2:10; Joel 2:31; Joel 3:15
13And I looked, and I heard an eagle flying in mid-heaven, crying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to those dwelling upon the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three messengers who are about to sound!”

1When the Lamb opened #ch. 5:1; 6:1the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2Then I saw the seven angels #Luke 1:19who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. 3And another angel came and stood #Amos 9:1 at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with #ch. 5:8 the prayers of all the saints on #ch. 9:13; Ex. 30:1, 3the golden altar before the throne, 4and #[Ps. 141:2]the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel. 5Then the angel took the censer and #Lev. 16:12 filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and #[Ps. 18:7, 8] there were peals of #See ch. 4:5thunder, rumblings,#8:5 Or voices, or sounds flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.
The Seven Trumpets
6Now the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to blow them.
7The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed #Ex. 9:23, 24; Ps. 18:13; Ezek. 38:22 hail and #Joel 2:30 fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a #ver. 8-12; ch. 9:15, 18; 12:4; [Zech. 13:8, 9] third of the earth was burned up, and a third of #ch. 9:4; Isa. 2:13the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.
8The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like #Jer. 51:25; [Mark 11:23] a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea #ch. 11:6; [Ex. 7:17, 19]became blood. 9A third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of #Isa. 2:16the ships were destroyed.
10The third angel blew his trumpet, and #ch. 9:1; [Isa. 14:12] a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on #ch. 14:7; 16:4the springs of water. 11The name of the star is Wormwood.#8:11 Wormwood is the name of a plant and of the bitter-tasting extract derived from it A third of the waters #Deut. 29:18; Jer. 9:15; 23:15 became wormwood, and many people died from the water, #[Ex. 15:23]because it had been made bitter.
12The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of #[Ex. 10:21-23; Isa. 13:10; 30:26]the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night.
13Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, #[ch. 9:12; 11:14]“Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!”
