Tehillim (Psalms) 94
94
1O יהוה, Ěl of vengeance; O Ěl of vengeance, shine forth!
2Raise Yourself up, O Judge of the earth; Render punishment to the proud.
3יהוה, how long are the wrong, How long are the wrong going to exult?
4They pour forth words, They speak arrogantly; All the workers of wickedness boast in themselves.
5They crush Your people, O יהוה, And they afflict Your inheritance.
6They kill the widow and the stranger, And murder the fatherless.
7Yet they say, “Yah does not see, And the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ pays no heed.”
8Take heed, you senseless among the people; And you fools, when would you become wise?
9He who planted the ear, does He not hear? He who formed the eye, does He not see?
10He who disciplines the nations, Does He not reprove – The One teaching man knowledge?
11יהוה knows the thoughts of man, That they are but a breath.
12Blessed is the man You discipline, O Yah, And instruct out of Your Torah,
13To give him rest from the days of evil, Until the pit is dug for the wrong.
14For יהוה does not leave His people, Nor does He forsake His inheritance.
15For right-ruling returns man to righteousness, And all the upright in heart follow it.
16Who would rise up for me against evil-doers? Who would stand up for me against workers of wickedness?
17If יהוה had not been my help, My being would soon have settled in silence.
18When I said, “My foot has slipped,” Your loving-commitment, O יהוה, supported me.
19When anxiety was great within me, Your comforts delighted my being.
20Would a throne of destruction, Which devises trouble by law, Be joined with You?
21They band together against the life of the righteous, And declare innocent blood wrong.
22But יהוה is my defence, And my Elohim the rock of my refuge,
23And brings back on them their own wickedness, And cuts them off in their own wrongdoing; יהוה our Elohim does cut them off.

Psalm 94
1 LORD, avenging God—
avenging God, show yourself!
2Rise up, judge of the earth!
Pay back the arrogant exactly what they deserve!
3How long will the wicked—oh, LORD!—
how long will the wicked win?
4They spew arrogant words;
all the evildoers are bragging.
5They crush your own people, LORD!
They abuse your very own possession.
6They kill widows and immigrants;
they murder orphans,
7saying all the while,
“The LORD can’t see it;
Jacob’s God doesn’t know
what’s going on!”
8You ignorant people better learn quickly.
You fools—when will you get some sense?
9The one who made the ear,
can’t he hear?
The one who formed the eye,
can’t he see?
10The one who disciplines nations,
can’t he punish?
The one who teaches humans,
doesn’t he know?#94.10 Correction; MT the one who teaches humans knowledge
11The LORD does indeed know human thoughts,
knows that they are nothing but a puff of air.
12The people you discipline, LORD, are truly happy—
the ones you teach from your Instruction—
13giving them relief from troubling times
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14The LORD will not reject his people;
he will not abandon his very own possession.
15No, but justice will once again meet up with righteousness,
and all whose heart is right will follow after.
16Who will stand up for me against the wicked?
Who will help me against evildoers?
17If the LORD hadn’t helped me,
I#94.17 Or soul; also in 94:19, 21 would live instantly in total silence.
18Whenever I feel my foot slipping,
your faithful love steadies me, LORD.
19When my anxieties multiply,
your comforting calms me down.
20Can a wicked ruler be your ally;
one who wreaks havoc by means of the law?
21The wicked gang up against the lives of the righteous.
They condemn innocent blood.
22But the LORD is my fortress;
my God is my rock of refuge.
23He will repay them for their wickedness,
completely destroy them because of their evil.
Yes, the LORD our God will completely destroy them.
