1Why do the nations rage,#Quoted in Acts 4:25, 26. See also Dan. 2:44; Dan. 7:13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28; Hag. 2:22; Zech. 14:9 and Rev. 11:15 And the peoples meditate emptiness?
2The sovereigns of the earth take their stand, And the rulers take counsel together, Against יהוה and against His Messiah, and say,
3Let us tear apart Their bonds, And throw away Their ropes from us.
4He who is sitting in the heavens laughs, יהוה mocks at them.
5Then He speaks to them in His wrath, And troubles them in His rage, saying,
6But I, I have set My Sovereign on Tsiyon, My set-apart mountain.
7“I inscribe for a law: יהוה has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have brought You forth.
8Ask of Me, and I make the nations Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth Your possession.
9Break them with a rod of iron, Dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”
10And now, be wise, O sovereigns; Be instructed, you rulers of the earth.
11Serve יהוה with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
12Kiss the Chosen,#Hebrew, Nashqu ḇar. Ḇar - Chosen in Hebrew but Son in Aramaic. lest He be enraged, And you perish in the way, For soon His wrath is to be kindled. Blessed are all those taking refuge in Him.

Why do the nations plan rebellion?
Why do people make their useless plots?
2Their kings revolt,
their rulers plot together against the LORD
and against the king he chose.
3“Let us free ourselves from their rule,” they say;
“let us throw off their control.”
4From his throne in heaven the Lord laughs
and mocks their feeble plans.
5Then he warns them in anger
and terrifies them with his fury.
6“On Zion,#2.6 Zion: See Zion in Word List. my sacred hill,” he says,
“I have installed my king.”

Acts 13.33; Heb 1.5; 5.5 “I will announce,” says the king, “what the LORD has declared.
He said to me: ‘You are my son;
today I have become your father.
8Ask, and I will give you all the nations;
the whole earth will be yours.

Rev 2.26–27; 12.5; 19.15 You will break them with an iron rod;
you will shatter them in pieces like a clay pot.’ ”
10Now listen to this warning, you kings;
learn this lesson, you rulers of the world:
11Serve the LORD with fear;
12tremble and bow down to him;#2.12 Probable text tremble… him; some other possible texts with trembling kiss his feet and with trembling kiss the Son and tremble and kiss the mighty one; Hebrew unclear.
or else his anger will be quickly aroused,
and you will suddenly die.
Happy are all who go to him for protection.
