Marqos (Mark) 13
13
1And as He went out of the Set-apart Place, one of His taught ones said to Him, “Teacher, see what stones! And what buildings!”
2And יהושע answering, said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another at all, which shall not be thrown down.”#See Mat. 24
3And as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the Set-apart Place, Kĕpha, and Ya‛aqoḇ, and Yoḥanan, and Andri asked Him separately,
4Say to us, when shall these events be? And what shall be the sign when all this is going to be accomplished?
5And יהושע began to say to them, “Take heed that no one leads you astray,
6for many shall come in My Name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and they shall lead many astray.
7“And when you hear of fightings and reports of fightings, do not be troubled – it has to take place, but the end is not yet.
8“For nation shall rise against nation, and reign against reign. And there shall be earthquakes in various places, and there shall be scarcities of food, and disturbances. These are the beginnings of birth-pains.
9“But take heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up to councils and to congregations. You shall be beaten, and you shall be brought before rulers and sovereigns for My sake, for a witness to them.
10“And the Good News has to be proclaimed first to all the nations.
11“And when they lead you away and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand what you are to say. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that, for it is not you who are speaking, but the Set-apart Spirit.
12“And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and a father his child. And children shall rise up against parents and shall put them to death.
13And you shall be hated by all because of My Name. But he who shall have endured to the end, he shall be saved.#See Mat. 10:22; Mat. 24:13
14And when you see the ‘abomination that lays waste,’#See Explanatory Notes "Abomination that lays waste" spoken of by Dani’ĕl the prophet, set up where it should not be” – he who reads, let him understand – “then let those who are in Yehuḏah flee to the mountains.
15“And he who is on the house-top, let him not go down into the house, nor come in to take whatever out of his house.
16“And he who is in the field, let him not go back to get his cloak.
17“And woe to those who are pregnant and to those nursing children in those days!
18“And pray that your flight does not take place in winter.
19“For in those days there shall be distress, such as has not been from the beginning of creation which Elohim created until this time, nor ever shall be.
20“And if the Master had not shortened those days, no flesh would have been saved; but because of the chosen ones, whom He chose, He shortened the days.
21“And if anyone then says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Look, there!’ do not believe it.
22“For false messiahs and false prophets shall rise and show signs and wonders to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.
23“And you, take heed. See, I have forewarned you of it all.
24But in those days, after that distress, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light,
25and the stars of heaven shall fall,# Isa. 13:10 and the powers in the heavens shall be shaken.# Isa. 34:4#See also Eze. 32:7; Joel 2:10; Joel 2:31; Joel 3:15; Hag. 2:6; Hag. 2:21
26“And then they shall see the Son of Aḏam coming in the clouds# Dan. 7:13 with much power and esteem.
27And then He shall send His messengers, and assemble His chosen ones from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.# Deu. 30:4; Zech. 2:6
28“And learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that the summer is near.
29“So you also, when you see these taking place, know that it is near, at the door.
30“Truly, I say to you, this generation shall by no means pass away till all this takes place.
31“The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but My words shall by no means pass away.
32“But concerning that day and the hour no one knows, not even the messengers in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
33Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is - ”
34as a man going abroad, having left his house and given authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.
35“Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming – in the evening or at midnight, or at the crowing of the cock, or in the morning,
36lest, coming suddenly, he should find you sleeping.
37“And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

Mark 13

Jesus Speaks of the Destruction of the Temple
(Mt 24.1–2; Lk 21.5–6)
1As Jesus was leaving the Temple, one of his disciples said, “Look, Teacher! What wonderful stones and buildings!”
2Jesus answered, “You see these great buildings? Not a single stone here will be left in its place; every one of them will be thrown down.”
Troubles and Persecutions
(Mt 24.3–14; Lk 21.7–19)
3Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, across from the Temple, when Peter, James, John, and Andrew came to him in private. 4“Tell us when this will be,” they said, “and tell us what will happen to show that the time has come for all these things to take place.”
5Jesus said to them, “Be on guard, and don't let anyone deceive you. 6Many men, claiming to speak for me, will come and say, ‘I am he!’ and they will deceive many people. 7And don't be troubled when you hear the noise of battles close by and news of battles far away. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that the end has come. 8Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be earthquakes everywhere, and there will be famines. These things are like the first pains of childbirth.

Mt 10.17–20; Lk 12.11–12 “You yourselves must be on guard. You will be arrested and taken to court. You will be beaten in the synagogues; you will stand before rulers and kings for my sake to tell them the Good News. 10But before the end comes, the gospel must be preached to all peoples. 11And when you are arrested and taken to court, do not worry beforehand about what you are going to say; when the time comes, say whatever is then given to you. For the words you speak will not be yours; they will come from the Holy Spirit. 12Men will hand over their own brothers to be put to death, and fathers will do the same to their children. Children will turn against their parents and have them put to death. 13#Mt 10.22Everyone will hate you because of me. But whoever holds out to the end will be saved.
The Awful Horror
(Mt 24.15–28; Lk 21.20–24)
14 #
Dan 9.27; 11.31; 12.11 “You will see ‘The Awful Horror’ standing in the place where he should not be.” (Note to the reader: be sure to understand what this means!) “Then those who are in Judea must run away to the hills. 15#Lk 17.31Someone who is on the roof of his house must not lose time by going down into the house to get anything to take with him. 16Someone who is in the field must not go back to the house for his cloak. 17How terrible it will be in those days for women who are pregnant and for mothers with little babies! 18Pray to God that these things will not happen in the winter! 19#Dan 12.1; Rev 7.14For the trouble of those days will be far worse than any the world has ever known from the very beginning when God created the world until the present time. Nor will there ever be anything like it again. 20But the Lord has reduced the number of those days; if he had not, nobody would survive. For the sake of his chosen people, however, he has reduced those days.
21 “Then, if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’ — do not believe him. 22For false Messiahs and false prophets will appear. They will perform miracles and wonders in order to deceive even God's chosen people, if possible. 23Be on your guard! I have told you everything before the time comes.
The Coming of the Son of Man
(Mt 24.29–31; Lk 21.25–28)
24 #
Is 13.10; Ezek 32.7; Joel 2.10, 31; 3.15; Rev 6.12 “In the days after that time of trouble the sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine, 25#Is 34.4; Joel 2.10; Rev 6.13the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers in space will be driven from their courses. 26#Dan 7.13; Rev 1.7Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27He will send the angels out to the four corners of the earth to gather God's chosen people from one end of the world to the other.
The Lesson of the Fig Tree
(Mt 24.32–35; Lk 21.29–33)
28 “Let the fig tree teach you a lesson. When its branches become green and tender and it starts putting out leaves, you know that summer is near. 29In the same way, when you see these things happening, you will know that the time is near, ready to begin.#13.29 the time is near, ready to begin; or he is near, ready to come. 30Remember that all these things will happen before the people now living have all died. 31Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
No one Knows the Day or Hour
(Mt 24.36–44)
32 #
Mt 24.36
“No one knows, however, when that day or hour will come — neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; only the Father knows. 33Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come. 34#Lk 12.36–38It will be like a man who goes away from home on a journey and leaves his servants in charge, after giving to each one his own work to do and after telling the doorkeeper to keep watch. 35Be on guard, then, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming — it might be in the evening or at midnight or before dawn or at sunrise. 36If he comes suddenly, he must not find you asleep. 37What I say to you, then, I say to all: watch!”
