Hoshĕa (Hosea) 3
3
1Then יהוה said to me, “Go again, love a woman loved by a friend, and an adulteress, according to the love of יהוה for the children of Yisra’ĕl, though they are turning to other mighty ones and love their raisin cakes.”
2So I bought her for myself for fifteen pieces of silver, and one and one-half ḥomers of barley.
3And I said to her, “You are to remain with me many days, you are not to whore, nor become any man’s, and so I shall also be towards you.”
4For many days the children of Yisra’ĕl are to remain without sovereign and without prince, and without slaughtering, and without pillar, and without shoulder garment or house idols.
5Afterward the children of Yisra’ĕl shall return, and seek יהוה their Elohim, and Dawiḏ their sovereign, and fear יהוה and His goodness, in the latter days.

Hosea 3
3
God's Love Offers Hope
1Once again the Lord spoke to me. And this time he said, “Hosea, fall in love with an unfaithful woman#3.1 unfaithful woman: This may refer to Gomer, the woman Hosea married (see 1.3), or it may refer to another woman. who has a lover. Do this to show that I love the people of Israel, even though they worship idols and enjoy the offering cakes made with fruit.”
2So I paid 15 pieces of silver and about 150 kilograms of grain for such a woman. 3Then I said, “Now you are mine! You will have to remain faithful to me, though it will be a long time before we sleep together.”
4It will also be a long time before Israel has a king or before sacrifices are offered at the temple or before there is any way to get guidance from God. 5But later, Israel will turn back to the Lord their God and to David their king. At that time they will come to the Lord with fear and trembling, and he will be good to them.
