Hoshĕa (Hosea) 1
1
1The word of יהוה that came to Hoshĕa son of Be’ĕri, in the days of Uzziyah, Yotham, Aḥaz, and Yeḥizqiyah, sovereigns of Yehuḏah, and in the days of Yaroḇ‛am son of Yo’ash, sovereign of Yisra’ĕl.
2The beginning of the word of יהוה with Hoshĕa. And יהוה said to Hoshĕa, “Go, take yourself a woman of whoring and children of whoring, for the land has utterly whored away from יהוה.”
3So he went and took Gomer, daughter of Diḇlayim, and she conceived and bore him a son.
4And יהוה said to him, “Call his name Yizre‛ĕl, for in a little while I shall revenge the bloodshed of Yizre‛ĕl on the house of Yĕhu, and put an end to the reign of the house of Yisra’ĕl.
5“And it shall be in that day that I shall break the bow of Yisra’ĕl in the Valley of Yizre‛ĕl.”
6And she conceived again and bore a daughter. And He said to him, “Call her name Lo-Ruḥamah, for no longer do I have compassion on the house of Yisra’ĕl so as to forgive them at all.
7“But I shall have compassion on the house of Yehuḏah and save them by יהוה their Elohim, and not save them by bow or by sword or battle, by horses or horsemen.”
8And she weaned Lo-Ruḥamah, and conceived and bore a son,
9then He said, “Call his name Lo-Ammi, for you are not My people, and I am not for you.
10“Yet the number of the children of Yisra’ĕl shall be as the sand of the sea, which is not measured nor counted. And it shall be in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ they shall be called, ‘You are the sons of the living Ěl.’
11“And the children of Yehuḏah and the children of Yisra’ĕl shall be gathered together, and appoint for themselves one head, and shall come up out of the earth, for great is the day of Yizre‛ĕl!

2 Kgs 14.23—15.7; 15.32—16.20; 18.1—20.21; 2 Chr 26.1—27.8; 28.1—32.33 This is the message which the LORD gave Hosea son of Beeri during the time that Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah were kings of Judah, and Jeroboam son of Jehoash was king of Israel.
Hosea's Wife and Children
2When the LORD first spoke to Israel through Hosea, he said to Hosea, “Go and get married; your wife will be unfaithful, and your children will be just like her.#1.2 get married; your wife… her; or marry a prostitute, and have children by her who will be just as bad as she is. In the same way, my people have left me and become unfaithful.”
3So Hosea married a woman named Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim. After the birth of their first child, a son, 4#2 Kgs 10.11the LORD said to Hosea, “Name him ‘Jezreel’, because it will not be long before I punish the king of Israel for the murders that his ancestor Jehu committed at Jezreel.#1.4 Jezreel: At this city Jehu assassinated the king of Israel and all the rest of the royal family, and became the first king of a new dynasty (see 2 Kgs 9—10). I am going to put an end to Jehu's dynasty.#1.4 Jehu's dynasty; or the kingdom of Israel. 5And in the Valley of Jezreel I will at that time destroy Israel's military power.”
6Gomer had a second child — this time it was a daughter. The LORD said to Hosea, “Name her ‘Unloved’, because I will no longer show love to the people of Israel or forgive them. 7But to the people of Judah I will show love. I, the LORD their God, will save them, but I will not do it by war — with swords or bows and arrows or with horses and horsemen.”
8After Gomer had weaned her daughter, she became pregnant again and had another son. 9The LORD said to Hosea, “Name him ‘Not-my-People’, because the people of Israel are not my people, and I am not their God.”
Israel is to be Restored

Rom 9.26
The people of Israel will become like the sand of the sea, more than can be counted or measured. Now God says to them, “You are not my people,” but the day is coming when he will say to them, “You are the children of the living God!” 11The people of Judah and the people of Israel will be reunited. They will choose for themselves a single leader, and once again they will grow and prosper in their land. Yes, the day of Jezreel#1.11 Jezreel: This name in Hebrew means “God sows” and suggests growth and prosperity. will be a great day!
