Yoḥanan Gimel (3 John) 1
1
1The elder, to the beloved Gaios, whom I love in truth:
2Beloved ones, I pray for you to do well in every way, and be in health, as your life is doing well.
3For I rejoiced greatly when brothers came and witnessed of the truth in you, as you walk in the truth.
4I have no greater joy than to hear of my children walking in truth.
5Beloved ones, you are acting trustworthily in whatever you do for the brothers and for strangers,
6who have borne witness of your love before the assembly. If you send them forward worthily of Elohim, you shall do well,
7because they went out for the sake of the Name, receiving naught from the nations.
8Therefore we ought to receive such, so that we become fellow workers for the truth.
9I wrote to the assembly, but Diotrephes, who loves to be the first among them, does not receive us.
10So if I come, I shall call to mind his works which he does, babbling against us with wicked words. And not satisfied with that, he himself does not receive the brothers, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the assembly.
11Beloved ones, do not imitate the evil, but the good. The one who is doing good is of Elohim, but he who is doing evil has not seen Elohim.#See 1John 3:6-10
12Demetrios has a good witness from all, and from the truth itself. And we also bear witness, and you know that our witness is true.
13I had much to write, but I do not wish to write to you with pen and ink,
14but I expect to see you shortly, and we shall speak face to face. Peace to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.

III John 1
1
Greeting to Gaius
1The Elder,
To the beloved Gaius, #2 John 1whom I love in truth:
2Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3For I #2 John 4rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. 4I have no greater #1 Thess. 2:19, 20; 2 John 4joy than to hear that #(1 Cor. 4:15)my children walk in truth.
Gaius Commended for Generosity
5Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for strangers, 6who have borne witness of your love before the church. If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well, 7because they went forth for His name’s sake, #1 Cor. 9:12, 15taking nothing from the Gentiles. 8We therefore ought to #Matt. 10:40; Rom. 12:13; Heb. 13:2; 1 Pet. 4:9receive such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth.
Diotrephes and Demetrius
9I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. 10Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, #Prov. 10:8, 10prating against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church.
11Beloved, #Ps. 34:14; 37:27; Rom. 14:19; 1 Thess. 5:15; 1 Tim. 6:11; 2 Tim. 2:22do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. #(1 John 2:29; 3:10)He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen #(1 John 3:10)God.
12Demetrius #Acts 6:3; 1 Tim. 3:7has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. And we also bear witness, #John 19:35; 21:24and you know that our testimony is true.
Farewell Greeting
13#2 John 12I had many things to write, but I do not wish to write to you with pen and ink; 14but I hope to see you shortly, and we shall speak face to face.
Peace to you. Our friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.
