Diḇre haYamim Bĕt (2 Chronicles) 27
27
1Yotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Yerushalayim. And his mother’s name was Yerushah the daughter of Tsaḏoq.
2And he did what was right in the eyes of יהוה, according to all that his father Uzziyahu had done. Only, he did not come into the Hĕḵal of יהוה. And the people continued to act corruptly.
3He built the Upper Gate of the House of יהוה, and he built much on the wall of Ophel.
4And he built cities in the hill country of Yehuḏah, and in the forests he built palaces and towers.
5And he fought with the sovereign of the Ammonites and had strong victory over them. And the children of Ammon gave him in that year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand kors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. This is what the children of Ammon paid him, also in the second and third years.
6And Yotham strengthened himself, for he prepared his ways before יהוה his Elohim.
7And the rest of the acts of Yotham, and all his battles and his ways, see, they are written in the book of the sovereigns of Yisra’ĕl and Yehuḏah.
8He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Yerushalayim.
9So Yotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of Dawiḏ. And his son Aḥaz reigned in his place.

2 Chronicles 27

Jotham King of Judah
1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok. 2He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Uzziah had done, but unlike him he did not enter the temple of the Lord. The people, however, continued their corrupt practices. 3Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the Lord and did extensive work on the wall at the hill of Ophel. 4He built towns in the hill country of Judah and forts and towers in the wooded areas.
5Jotham waged war against the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him a hundred talents#27:5 That is, about 3 3/4 tons or about 3.4 metric tons of silver, ten thousand cors#27:5 That is, probably about 1,800 tons or about 1,600 metric tons of wheat of wheat and ten thousand cors#27:5 That is, probably about 1,500 tons or about 1,350 metric tons of barley of barley. The Ammonites brought him the same amount also in the second and third years.
6Jotham grew powerful because he walked steadfastly before the Lord his God.
7The other events in Jotham’s reign, including all his wars and the other things he did, are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. 8He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. 9Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. And Ahaz his son succeeded him as king.
