Psalms 7
7
Adonai Magen
1A passionate song of David, which he sang to Adonai concerning Cush, a Benjamite.
2Adonai my God, in You I have taken refuge. Save me from each of my persecutors, and deliver me.
3Otherwise he will rip me apart like a lion, with no one to rescue me.
4Adonai my God, if I have done this— if there is guilt on my hands,
5if I have paid back evil to anyone at peace with me, or unjustly attacked my adversary,
6 then let the enemy chase me, overtake me, and trample me into the ground, leaving my honor in the dirt! Selah
7Arise, Adonai, in Your anger, arise against the fury of my enemies! Awake for me! You decreed justice.
8Let an assembly of peoples gather around You and return on high, above them.
9Adonai judges the peoples. Vindicate me, Adonai, according to my righteousness and integrity in me.
10Please, end the evil of the wicked and sustain the righteous. A just God examines hearts and minds.
11My shield is God— Savior of the upright in heart.
12God is a righteous judge, a God who is indignant every day.
13If He does not relent, He will sharpen His sword. He has bent His bow and made it ready.
14He prepares His own deadly weapons. He makes His fiery arrows.
15Look! The one pregnant with trouble conceives mischief and brings forth deceit.
16He digs a pit, scrapes it out, and then falls into the hole he has made.
17His mischief will turn on his own head. His violence will boomerang on his crown.
18I will praise Adonai for His justice. I sing praise to the Name of Adonai Elyon!

Psalm 7

In You Do I Take Refuge
A #Hab. 3:1Shiggaion#7:1 Probably a musical or liturgical term of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite.
1O Lord my God, in you do I #See Ps. 11:1 take refuge;
#
Ps. 31:15
save me from all my pursuers and deliver me,
2lest like #See Job 10:16 a lion they tear my soul apart,
rending it in pieces, with #Ps. 50:22none to deliver.
3O Lord my God, #[2 Sam. 16:7, 8] if I have done this,
if there is #1 Sam. 24:11; 26:18; [Ps. 59:3]wrong in my hands,
4if I have repaid #Ps. 55:20 my friend#7:4 Hebrew the one at peace with me with evil
or #1 Sam. 24:7; 26:9plundered my enemy without cause,
5let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it,
and let him #Dan. 8:7; [Ps. 89:39]trample my life to the ground
and lay my glory in the dust. Selah
6 # See Ps. 3:7 Arise, O Lord, in your anger;
#
Ps. 94:2; Isa. 33:10 lift yourself up against the fury of my enemies;
#
Ps. 35:23; 44:23; 59:4; Job 8:6 awake for me; you have appointed a judgment.
7Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you;
over it return on high.
8The Lord #See Ps. 58:11 judges the peoples;
#
Ps. 26:1; 35:24; 43:1; [Ps. 18:20] judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness
and according to the integrity that is in me.
9Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
and may you establish the righteous—
you who #Ps. 11:5; Job 23:10; [Ps. 139:1; 1 Sam. 16:7; 1 Chr. 28:9] test #Ps. 26:2; Jer. 11:20; 17:10; 20:12; Rev. 2:23the minds and hearts,#7:9 Hebrew the hearts and kidneys
O righteous God!
10My shield is #[Ps. 62:8] with God,
who saves #2 Chr. 29:34the upright in heart.
11God is #[Job 8:3] a righteous judge,
and a God who feels #Nah. 1:2, 6indignation every day.
12If a man#7:12 Hebrew he does not repent, God#7:12 Hebrew he will #Deut. 32:41 whet his sword;
he has #Ps. 11:2; 37:14 bent and #Ps. 21:12readied his bow;
13he has prepared for him his deadly weapons,
making his #See Ps. 18:14 arrows #[Eph. 6:16]fiery shafts.
14Behold, the wicked man #Job 15:35; Isa. 59:4; [Isa. 33:11; James 1:15]conceives evil
and is #Job 15:35; Isa. 59:4; [Isa. 33:11; James 1:15]pregnant with mischief
and gives birth to lies.
15He makes #Ps. 9:15; 57:6; 119:85; Prov. 26:27; 28:10; Eccles. 10:8a pit, digging it out,
and falls into the hole that he has made.
16His #[Ps. 94:23; 141:10; Judg. 9:24; 1 Kgs. 2:32; Esth. 7:10; 9:25; Prov. 5:22]mischief returns upon his own head,
and on his own skull his violence descends.
17I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness,
and I will #Ps. 9:2sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.
