Psalms 68

Triumphal Procession up to the Temple
1For the music director, a psalm of David, a song.
2Let God arise! Let His enemies be scattered! Let those who hate Him flee before Him.
3As smoke is blown away, may You blow them away. As wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God.
4But let the righteous be glad. Let them exult before God. Let them rejoice with gladness.
5Sing to God, sing praises to His Name. Prepare the road for Him who rides through the deserts, whose Name is Adonai— and rejoice before Him.
6A father of orphans, defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.
7God settles the lonely in a home. He leads prisoners out to prosperity. But the rebellious live in a parched land.
8O God, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the desert—Selah—
9the earth shook, the heavens rained at the presence of God —the One of Sinai— at the presence of God, God of Israel.
10You poured down abundant rain, O God. You sustained Your weary inheritance.
11Your community settled in it. In Your goodness, O God, You provided for the poor.
12The Lord gives the word— a great company of women proclaims the good news.
13“Kings of armies, flee, flee!” She who stays at home divides the spoil.
14When you lie among the campfires, wings of a dove were covered with silver and her feathers with shimmering gold.
15When Shaddai scattered kings there, it was snowing on Zalmon.
16Mount Bashan is a mountain of God. Mount Bashan is a mountain of peaks.
17Why do you gaze with envy, you mountain peaks, at the mountain God desired for His dwelling? Yes, Adonai will dwell there forever!
18The chariots of God are thousands and thousands —my Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.
19You went up on high. You led captivity captive. You received gifts from humanity, even from the rebellious— so that God might dwell there.
20Blessed be my Lord! Day by day He bears our burdens— the God of our salvation! Selah
21God is for us—a God of deliverance. Adonai my Lord has escapes from death.
22Surely God crushes the head of His foes, the hairy scalp of one walking in his guilt.
23My Lord said: “I will bring them back from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea.
24So your foot may wade in blood, and your dogs’ tongue may have their share of your enemies’ blood.”
25They have seen Your processions, O God— the processions of my God, my King, into the Sanctuary:
26The singers go before, the musicians last, between maidens beating tambourines.
27“Bless God in the congregations— Adonai, from the fountain of Israel.”
28There Benjamin, the youngest, is leading them, there the throng of Judah’s princes, there the princes of Zebulun, there the princes of Naphtali.
29Your God commanded your strength. Strengthen, O God, You who have acted for us.
30From Your Temple above Jerusalem, kings bring You tribute.
31Rebuke the beast of the reeds, the herd of bulls with the calves, peoples trampling down pieces of silver. He has scattered the peoples who delight in war!
32Nobles come from Egypt. Cush runs to stretch her hands to God.
33Sing to God, kingdoms of the earth, sing praises to the Lord—Selah—
34to Him who rides upon the ancient heavens of heavens. Look, He utters His voice, a mighty voice!
35Ascribe strength to God— His majesty is over Israel and His strength is in the skies.
36O God, You are awesome from Your holy places. The God of Israel gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God!

9#Lev. 26:4; Deut. 11:11; Job 5:10; Ezek. 34:26You, O God, sent a plentiful rain,
Whereby You confirmed Your inheritance,
When it was weary.
10Your congregation dwelt in it;
#Deut. 26:5; Ps. 74:19You, O God, provided from Your goodness for the poor.
11The Lord gave the word;
Great was the company of those who proclaimed it:
12“Kings#Num. 31:8; Josh. 10:16; Judg. 5:19 of armies flee, they flee,
And she who remains at home divides the spoil.
13#Ps. 81:6Though you lie down among the sheepfolds,
#Ps. 105:37You will be like the wings of a dove covered with silver,
And her feathers with yellow gold.”
14#Josh. 10:10When the Almighty scattered kings in it,
It was white as snow in Zalmon.
15A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan;
A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan.
16Why do you fume with envy, you mountains of many peaks?
#(Deut. 12:5); 1 Kin. 9:3This is the mountain which God desires to dwell in;
Yes, the Lord will dwell in it forever.
17#Deut. 33:2; Dan. 7:10The chariots of God are twenty thousand,

19Blessed be the Lord,
Who daily loads us with benefits,
The God of our salvation!
Selah
20Our God is the God of salvation;
And #(Deut. 32:39)to God the Lord belong escapes from death.
21But #Hab. 3:13God will wound the head of His enemies,
#Ps. 55:23The hairy scalp of the one who still goes on in his trespasses.
22The Lord said, “I will bring #Num. 21:33; Deut. 30:1–9; Amos 9:1–3back from Bashan,
I will bring them back #Ex. 14:22from the depths of the sea,
23#Ps. 58:10That your foot may crush them in blood,
#1 Kin. 21:19; Jer. 15:3And the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from your enemies.”
24They have seen Your procession, O God,
The procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary.

The Lord, from #Deut. 33:28; Is. 48:1the fountain of Israel.
27#Judg. 5:14; 1 Sam. 9:21There is little Benjamin, their leader,
