Psalms 34
34
Taste and See
1Of David, when he feigned insanity before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he left.
2I will bless Adonai at all times. His praise is continually in my mouth.
3 My soul boasts in Adonai. The humble ones hear of it and rejoice.
4Magnify Adonai with me and let us exalt His Name together.
5I sought Adonai, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
6They who looked to Him were radiant, and their faces will never be ashamed.
7This poor man cried, and Adonai heard, and saved him out of all his troubles.
8The angel of Adonai encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.
9Taste and see how good Adonai is. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.
10Fear Adonai, His kedoshim, For those who fear Him lack nothing.
11Young lions may lack, and go hungry, but those who seek Adonai want for no good thing.
12Come, children, listen to me: I will teach you the fear of Adonai.
13Who is the one who delights in life, and loves to see good days?
14Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking treachery.
15Depart from evil and do good. Seek shalom and pursue it.
16The eyes of Adonai are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry.
17The face of Adonai is against evildoers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
18The righteous cry out and Adonai hears, and delivers them from all their troubles.
19Adonai is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those crushed in spirit.
20Many are the distresses of the righteous, but Adonai delivers him out of them all.
21He keeps all his bones— not one of them is broken.
22Evil kills the wicked— those who hate the righteous will be held guilty.
23Adonai redeems the soul of His servants —no one who takes refuge in Him will be held guilty.

1By David, when he pretended to be insane before Avimelekh, who then drove him away; so he left:
2I will bless Adonai at all times;
his praise will always be in my mouth.
3When I boast, it will be about Adonai;
the humble will hear of it and be glad.
4Proclaim with me the greatness of Adonai;
let us exalt his name together.
5I sought Adonai, and he answered me;
he rescued me from everything I feared.
6They looked to him and grew radiant;
their faces will never blush for shame.
7This poor man cried; Adonai heard
and saved him from all his troubles.
8The angel of Adonai, who encamps
around those who fear him, delivers them.
9Taste, and see that Adonai is good.
How blessed are those who take refuge in him!
10Fear Adonai, you holy ones of his,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
11Young lions can be needy, they can go hungry,
but those who seek Adonai lack nothing good.
12Come, children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of Adonai.
13Which of you takes pleasure in living?
Who wants a long life to see good things?
14[If you do,] keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from deceiving talk;
15turn from evil, and do good;
seek peace, go after it!
16The eyes of Adonai watch over the righteous,
and his ears are open to their cry.
17But the face of Adonai opposes those who do evil,
to cut off all memory of them from the earth.
18[The righteous] cried out, and Adonai heard,
and he saved them from all their troubles.
19Adonai is near those with broken hearts;
he saves those whose spirit is crushed.
20The righteous person suffers many evils,
but Adonai rescues him out of them all.
21He protects all his bones;
not one of them gets broken.
22Evil will kill the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
23But Adonai redeems his servants;
no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.
