Psalms 124
124
Had He Not Been on Our Side
1A Song of Ascents. Of David. “Had Adonai not been on our side” —let Israel now say—
2“Had Adonai not been on our side, when men rose up against us,
3then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath burned against us.
4Then the waters would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over our soul,
5then the raging waters would have swept over our soul.”
6Blessed be Adonai, who has not given us as prey for their teeth.
7Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the snare of the trappers— the snare is broken, and we escaped!
8Our help is in the Name of Adonai, Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 124
124
1 A Canticle in steps. Those who trust in the Lord will be like the mountain of Zion. He will not be disturbed for eternity, who dwells
2 in Jerusalem. Mountains surround it. And the Lord surrounds his people, from this time forward and even forever.
3 For the Lord will not allow the rod of sinners to remain over the lot of the just, so that the just may not extend their hands toward iniquity.
4 Do good, O Lord, to the good and to the upright of heart.
5 But those who turn away into obligation, the Lord will lead away with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.
