Two Witnesses and a Voice from Heaven
1After six days, Yeshua takes with Him Peter and Jacob and John his brother, and brings them up a high mountain by themselves.
2Now He was transfigured before them; His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.
3And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Yeshua.
4Peter responded to Yeshua, “Master, it’s good for us to be here! If You wish, I will make three sukkot here—one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
5While He was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold, a voice from out of the cloud, saying, “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!”
6When the disciples heard this, they fell face down, terrified.
7But Yeshua came and touched them. “Get up,” He said. “Stop being afraid.”
8And lifting their eyes, they saw no one except Yeshua alone.
9As they were coming down from the mountain, Yeshua commanded them, saying, “Do not tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”
10The disciples questioned Him, saying, “Why then do the Torah scholars say that Elijah must come first?”
11Yeshua replied, “Indeed, Elijah is coming and will restore all things.
12I tell you that Elijah already came; and they didn’t recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. In the same way, the Son of Man is about to suffer at their hands.”
13Then the disciples understood that He was speaking to them about John the Immerser.
See What Faith Can Do
14When they came to the crowd, a man came to Yeshua, falling on his knees before Him and saying,
15“Master, have mercy on my son, for he has seizures and suffers badly. For he often falls into the fire and often into the water.
16I brought him to Your disciples, but they couldn’t heal him.”
17And answering, Yeshua said, “O faithless and twisted generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.”
18Yeshua rebuked the demon and it came out of him, and the boy was healed from that very hour.
19Then the disciples came to Yeshua in private and said, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
20And He said to them, “Because you trust so little. Amen, I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
21[footnote: Most manuscripts omit verse 21: But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.]
Second Prediction: Death and Resurrection
22Now while they were gathering in the Galilee, Yeshua said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men;
23and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised.” And the disciples became greatly distressed.
24When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the Temple tax came to Peter and said, “Your teacher pays the Temple tax, doesn’t He?”
25“Yes,” Peter said. Now when Peter came into the house, Yeshua spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? The kings of the earth, from whom do they collect tolls or tax? From their sons or from strangers?”
26After Peter said, “From strangers,” Yeshua said to him, “Then the sons are free.
27But so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw out a hook, and take the first fish that comes up. And when you open its mouth, you’ll find a coin. Take that, and give it to them, for Me and you.”

Matthew 17
1¶ And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, his brother, and brought them apart up into a high mountain
2and [he] was transfigured before them, and his face shined as the sun, and his raiment was as white as the light.
3And, behold, Moses and Elijah appeared unto them talking with him.
4Then Peter answered and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to remain here; if thou desire, let us make three tabernacles here: one for thee and one for Moses and one for Elijah.
5While he yet spoke, behold, a cloud of light overshadowed them, and, behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and feared greatly.
7Then Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise and be not afraid.
8And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus only.
9And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no one until the Son of man is risen from the dead.
10Then his disciples asked him, saying, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?
11And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elijah truly shall come first and restore all things.
12But I say unto you, That Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatever they pleased. Likewise the Son of man shall also suffer of them.
13Then the disciples understood that he spoke unto them of John the Baptist.
14¶ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is lunatic and suffers miserably; for many times he has fallen into the fire and often into the water.
16And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17Then Jesus answered and said, O unfaithful and crooked generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him here to me.
18And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon departed out of him and the child was cured from that very hour.
19Then the disciples came to Jesus apart and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unfaithfulness; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove from here to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21Howbeit this lineage of demons does not go out but by prayer and fasting.
22¶ And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men;
23and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.
24¶ And when they were come to Capernaum, those that received the two drachmas came to Peter and said, Does not your master pay the two drachmas?
25He said, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus spoke unto him first, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own sons or of strangers?
26Peter said unto him, Of strangers. Jesus said unto him, Then the sons are free.
27Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea and cast a hook and take up the first fish that comes up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a stater, a coin worth four drachmas; take that, and give it unto them for me and thee.
