Then the children of Judah approached Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him: “You know the word that ADONAI had spoken to Moses the man of God at Kadesh-barnea concerning me and you. I was 40 years old when Moses the servant of ADONAI sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought him back word as it was in my heart. Nevertheless, my fellows that went up with me made the heart of the people melt with fear, but I fully followed ADONAI my God. So Moses swore on that day saying: ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden will be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have fully followed ADONAI my God.’ So now behold, ADONAI has kept me alive, just as He said, these 45 years, since the time that ADONAI spoke this word to Moses while Israel was journeying in the wilderness, and now behold, I am 85 years old today. I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me—as my strength was then, so is my strength now, for war and for going out and coming in. Now therefore, give me this hill country about which ADONAI spoke on that day. For you heard on that day how the Anakim were there as well as great, fortified cities. Perhaps ADONAI will be with me, and I will drive them out, just as ADONAI has spoken.”

Will you also leave behind a legacy that stands as firm as the mountains?

The Bible compares the Christian life to a race in Hebrews 12:1. Unfortunately, many people approach it as if it were a sprint, in which a quick start counts, or a middle-distance race to run smoothly. The real comparison is with a marathon, where various things and people are trying to slow us down or stop us. We must approach the race with the right mindset and with the knowledge that God provides us with the means to go all the way. What a tragedy it would be to abandon the race when victory is certain!

Or are we going to fashion an idol out of it and worship what once held us captive? This heavy-duty stand-alone plan is also part 2 of a 10 part series.
At Hillsong College, we believe that God has called his people to be bold leaders in every sphere of life.
