2 Timothy 2

Disciples from Generation to Generation
1Therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Messiah Yeshua.
2And what you have heard from me among many witnesses, entrust to faithful people who will be capable to teach others also.
3Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Messiah Yeshua.
4No one serving as a soldier entangles himself in the activities of everyday life, so that he might please the one who enlisted him.
5Also, if anyone competes as an athlete, he is not crowned victorious unless he competes according to the rules.
6The hard-working farmer ought to receive the first share of the crops.
7Consider what I am saying, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.
8Remember Yeshua the Messiah, raised from the dead, from the seed of David—according to my Good News.
9For this I suffer hardship as a criminal, even to the point of chains—though the word of God is not chained.
10Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the chosen, so they might obtain the salvation that is in Messiah Yeshua with eternal glory.
11Trustworthy is the saying: If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He will also deny us;
13if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
A Workman with the Word
14Remind them of these things and solemnly charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which is useless—to the ruin of those who are listening.
15Make every effort to present yourself before God as tried and true, as an unashamed worker cutting a straight path with the word of truth.
16But avoid godless chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness
17and their words will spread like cancer. Among them are Hymeneaus and Philetus—
18men who have missed the mark concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection has already taken place. They are overturning the faith of some.
19Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord keep away from unrighteousness.”
20Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay—some for honor and some for common use.
21Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor—sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
22Now flee from youthful desires; instead, pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and shalom, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
23But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they produce quarrels.
24The Lord’s slave must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, tolerant.
25Let him give guidance with humility to those who are in opposition—perhaps God may grant them a change of mind, leading to the knowledge of truth.
26Then they may regain their senses and escape the devil’s snare, in which they had been held captive by him to do his will.

A Good Soldier of Christ Jesus
1#Eph 6:10; 2Ti 1:2So you, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2#1Ti 1:18; 6:12Share the things that you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses with faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 3#1Ti 1:18; 2Ti 1:8Endure hard times as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4#2Pe 2:20No soldier on active duty entangles himself with civilian affairs, that he may please the enlisting officer. 5Anyone who competes as an athlete is not rewarded without competing legally. 6The farmer who labors should be first to partake of the crops. 7Consider what I am saying, and may the Lord grant you understanding in all things.
8#Mt 1:1; Ro 2:16Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David, according to my gospel, 9#Php 1:7; 2Ti 1:8in which I suffer trouble like a criminal, even with chains. But the word of God is not bound. 10#Col 1:24; 2Co 1:6; 4:17Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11#Ro 6:8; 1Th 5:10This is a faithful saying:
If we die with Him,
we shall also live with Him.
12#Mt 10:33; Ro 8:17 If we endure,
we shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.
13#Nu 23:19; Ro 3:3 If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.
An Approved Workman
14#1Ti 5:21; 2Ti 2:23Remind them of these things, commanding them before the Lord that they not argue about words, which leads to nothing of value and to the destruction of those who hear them. 15#Mt 13:52Study to show yourself approved by God, a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16#Titus 3:9; 1Ti 6:20But avoid profane foolish babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness, 17#1Ti 1:20and their word will spread like gangrene: Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18#1Co 15:12; 1Ti 1:19who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection has already occurred, and who overthrow the faith of some. 19#Jn 10:14; Isa 28:16But the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who calls on the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
20#1Ti 3:15In a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also those of wood and clay; some are for honor, and some for dishonor. 21#2Ti 3:17; Isa 52:11One who cleanses himself from these things will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, fit for the Master’s use, and prepared for every good work.
22#1Ti 6:11; 1:5; 4:12So flee youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23#Titus 3:9; 2Ti 2:14But avoid foolish and unlearned debates, knowing that they create strife. 24#1Ti 3:2–3; Titus 3:2The servant of the Lord must not quarrel, but must be gentle toward all people, able to teach, patient, 25#1Ti 2:4; Ac 8:22in gentleness instructing those in opposition. Perhaps God will grant them repentance to know the truth, 26#1Ti 3:7and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
