Israel and Judah’s Descendants
1These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad and Asher.
3The sons of Judah: Er, Onan and Shelah—the three were born to him by Bath-shua the Canaanite woman. But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of Adonai, so He put him to death.
4Then Tamar his daughter-in-law bore him Perez and Zerah. Judah had five sons in all.
5The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.
6The sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol and Dara, five in all.
7The sons of Carmi: Achar, the troubler of Israel who violated the ban of devoted things.
8The sons of Ethan: Azariah.
9The sons of Hezron who were born to him: Jerahmeel, Ram and Chelubai.
10Ram fathered Amminadab; Amminadab fathered Nahshon, the leader of the children of Judah.
11Nahshon fathered Salma; Salma fathered Boaz.
12Boaz fathered Obed; Obed fathered Jesse.
13Jesse fathered Eliab his firstborn, Abinadab was second, Shimea third,
14Nethanel fourth, Raddai fifth,
15Ozem sixth, and David seventh.
16Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. The three sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab and Asahel.
17Abigail bore Amasa, and the father of Amasa was Jether the Ishmaelite.
18Caleb son of Hezron fathered children by Azubah his wife and by Jerioth. These were her sons: Jesher, Shobab and Ardon.
19When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur.
20Hur fathered Uri and Uri fathered Bezalel.
21Afterward Hezron had relations with the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead—he had married her when he was 60 years old—and she bore him Segub.
22Segub fathered Jair, who had 23 cities in the land of Gilead.
23But Geshur and Aram took the towns of Jair from them, along with Kenath and its surrounding villages, 60 towns. All these were the sons of Machir the father of Gilead.
24After the death of Hezron in Caleb-ephrath, Abijah, Hezron’s wife, bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.
25Now the sons of Jerahmeel, the firstborn of Hezron: Ram the firstborn, then Bunah, Oren, Ozem and Ahijah.
26Jerahmeel had another wife whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.
27The sons of Ram, the firstborn of Jerahmeel: Maaz, Jamin and Eker.
28The sons of Onam: Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai: Nadab and Abishur.
29The name of the wife of Abishur was Abihail, and she bore him Ahban and Molid.
30The sons of Nadab: Seled and Appaim, but Seled died without children.
31The sons of Appaim: Ishi, who was the father of Sheshan. Sheshan was the father of Ahlai.
32The sons of Jada the brother of Shammai: Jeter and Jonathan—Jeter died without sons.
33The sons of Jonathan: Pelet and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel.
34Now Sheshan had no sons, only daughters. But Sheshan had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Jarha.
35So Sheshan gave his daughter to Jarha his servant as a wife, and she bore him Attai.
36Then Attai fathered Nathan, and Nathan fathered Zabad.
37Zabad fathered Ephlal and Ephlal fathered Obed.
38Obed fathered Jehu, and Jehu fathered Azariah.
39Azariah fathered Helez, and Helez fathered Eleasah.
40Eleasah fathered Sisamai, and Sisamai fathered Shallum.
41 Shallum fathered Jekamiah, and Jekamiah fathered Elishama.
42Now the sons of Caleb, the brother of Jerahmeel: Mesha his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and his son Mareshah the father of Hebron.
43The sons of Hebron: Korah, Tappuah, Rekem and Shema.
44Shema fathered Raham, the father of Jorkeam. Rekem fathered Shammai.
45The son of Shammai was Maon and Maon was the father of Beth-Zur.
46Ephah, Caleb’s concubine, bore Haran, Moza and Gazez; and Haran fathered Gazez.
47The sons of Jahdai: Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah and Shaaph.
48Maacah, Caleb’s concubine, bore Sheber and Tirhanah.
49She also bore Shaaph the father of Madmanna h, Sheba the father of Machbenah and the father of Gibea. The daughter of Caleb was Achsah.
50These were the descendants of Caleb. The sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephrath: Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim,
51Salma the father of Beth-lehem and Hareph the father of Beth-gader.
52Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim had sons: Haroeh, half of the Menuhites.
53The clans of Kiriath-jearim: the Itrites, the Puhtites, the Shumathites, the Mishraites; from them came the Zorathites and the Eshtaolites.
54The sons of Salma: Beth-lehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites,
55and the clans of scribes who lived at Jabez: the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Sucathites. These were the Kenites who descended from Hammath, the father of the Rechabites.

The Sons of Israel
1Here are the names of the sons of Israel. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, 2Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, Asher.
The Family of Judah
The Family Line From Judah’s Sons to Hezron’s Sons
3The sons of Judah were
Er, Onan and Shelah. A woman from Canaan had these three sons by him. She was the daughter of Shua.
Er was Judah’s oldest son. He was evil in the Lord’s sight. So the Lord put him to death.
4Tamar was Judah’s daughter-in-law. She had Perez and Zerah by him.
The total number of Judah’s sons was five.
5The sons of Perez were
Hezron and Hamul.
6The sons of Zerah were
Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol and Darda. The total number of Zerah’s sons was five.
7The son of Karmi was Achar.
He brought trouble on Israel. Some things that had been set apart to the Lord in a special way to be destroyed. He took some of those things. When he did that, he disobeyed the Lord’s command.
8The son of Ethan was
Azariah.
9Hezron was the father of
Jerahmeel, Ram and Caleb.
The Family Line of Ram
10Ram was the father of Amminadab.
Amminadab was the father of Nahshon. Nahshon was the leader of the people of Judah.
11Nahshon was the father of Salmon.
Salmon was the father of Boaz.
12Boaz was the father of Obed.
And Obed was the father of Jesse.
13Jesse’s first son was
Eliab. His second son was Abinadab.
The third was Shimea. 14The fourth was Nethanel.
The fifth was Raddai. 15The sixth was Ozem.
And the seventh was David.
16Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail.
Zeruiah’s three sons were Abishai, Joab and Asahel.
17Abigail was the mother of Amasa. Amasa’s father was Jether. Jether belonged to the family line of Ishmael.
The Family Line of Caleb
18Caleb was the son of Hezron. Caleb’s wife Azubah had children by him. Jerioth also had children by him. Azubah’s sons were
Jesher, Shobab and Ardon.
19When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath. She had Hur by him.
20Hur was the father of Uri. And Uri was the father of Bezalel.
21When he was 60 years old, Hezron married the daughter of Makir. Makir was the father of Gilead. Hezron slept with his wife, and she had Segub by him.
22Segub was the father of Jair. Jair controlled 23 towns in Gilead.
23But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth Jair. They also captured Kenath and the settlements around it. The total number of towns captured was 60.
Hezron, Segub and Jair belonged to the family line of Makir. Makir was the father of Gilead.
24Hezron died in Caleb Ephrathah. Abijah was Hezron’s wife. She had Ashhur by him. Ashhur was born after Hezron died. Ashhur was the father of Tekoa.
The Family Line of Jerahmeel
25Here are the sons of Jerahmeel. He was the oldest son of Hezron.
Ram was Jerahmeel’s oldest son. Then came Bunah, Oren, Ozem and Ahijah. 26Jerahmeel had another wife. Her name was Atarah. She was the mother of Onam.
27Here are the sons of Ram. He was the oldest son of Jerahmeel. The sons of Ram were
Maaz, Jamin and Eker.
28The sons of Onam were
Shammai and Jada.
The sons of Shammai were
Nadab and Abishur. 29Abishur’s wife was named Abihail. She had Ahban and Molid by him.
30The sons of Nadab were
Seled and Appaim. Seled died without having any children.
31The son of Appaim was
Ishi. Ishi was the father of Sheshan. Sheshan was the father of Ahlai.
32The sons of Jada were
Jether and Jonathan. Jada was Shammai’s brother. Jether died without having any children.
33The sons of Jonathan were
Peleth and Zaza.
They belonged to the family line of Jerahmeel.
34Sheshan didn’t have any sons. All he had was daughters.
He had a servant from Egypt named Jarha. 35Sheshan gave his daughter to be married to his servant Jarha. She had Attai by Jarha.
36Attai was the father of Nathan.
Nathan was the father of Zabad.
37Zabad was the father of Ephlal.
Ephlal was the father of Obed.
38Obed was the father of Jehu.
Jehu was the father of Azariah.
39Azariah was the father of Helez.
Helez was the father of Eleasah.
40Eleasah was the father of Sismai.
Sismai was the father of Shallum.
41Shallum was the father of Jekamiah.
And Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.
The Family Groups of Caleb
42Caleb was the brother of Jerahmeel.
Caleb’s oldest son was Mesha. Mesha was the father of Ziph.
Caleb had another son named Mareshah. Mareshah was the father of Hebron.
43The sons of Hebron were
Korah, Tappuah, Rekem and Shema.
44Shema was the father of Raham.
Raham was the father of Jorkeam.
Rekem was the father of Shammai.
45The son of Shammai was Maon.
Maon was the father of Beth Zur.
46Caleb had a concubine named Ephah.
She was the mother of Haran, Moza and Gazez.
Haran was the father of Gazez.
47The sons of Jahdai were
Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah and Shaaph.
48Caleb had a concubine named Maakah.
She was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah.
49She was also the mother of Shaaph and Sheva. Shaaph was the father of Madmannah.
Sheva was the father of Makbenah and Gibea.
Caleb’s daughter was Aksah.
50All of them belonged to the family line of Caleb.
Hur was the oldest son of Ephrathah.
Hur was the brother of Shobal. Shobal was the father of Kiriath Jearim. 51Hur was the father of Salma. Salma was the father of Bethlehem. Hur was also the father of Hareph. Hareph was the father of Beth Gader.
52Here is the family line of Shobal, the father of Kiriath Jearim. It included
Haroeh and half of the people of Manahath. 53It also included the family groups of Kiriath Jearim. They were the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites and Mishraites. The people of Zorah and Eshtaol belonged to these family groups.
54Here is the family line of Salma. It included
Bethlehem, the people of Netophah, Atroth Beth Joab, half of the people of Manahath, and the Zorites. 55It also included the family groups of secretaries who lived at Jabez. They were the Tirathites, Shimeathites and Sucathites. They were the Kenites who belonged to the family line of Hammath. Hammath was the father of the family line of Rekab.
