The Great Flood
(2 Peter 3:1–7)
1Then the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. 2You are to take with you seven pairs of #7:2 Or by sevens; also in verse 3 every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate; a pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate; 3and seven pairs of every kind of bird of the air, male and female, to preserve their offspring on the face of all the earth. 4For seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living thing I have made.”
5And Noah did all that the Lord had commanded him.
6Now Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters came upon the earth. 7And Noah and his wife, with his sons and their wives, entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. 8The clean and unclean animals, the birds, and everything that crawls along the ground 9came to Noah to enter the ark, two by two, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.
10And after seven days the floodwaters came upon the earth. 11In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month, all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12And the rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.
13On that very day Noah entered the ark, along with his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and his wife, and the three wives of his sons— 14they and every kind of wild animal, livestock, crawling creature, bird, and winged creature. 15They came to Noah to enter the ark, two by two of every creature #7:15 Literally of all flesh; similarly in verses 16 and 21 with the breath of life. 16And they entered, the male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.
17For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and the waters rose and lifted the ark high above the earth. 18So the waters continued to surge and rise greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the waters. 19Finally, the waters completely inundated the earth, so that all the high mountains under all the heavens were covered.
20The waters rose and covered the mountaintops to a depth of fifteen cubits.#7:20 15 cubits is approximately 22.5 feet or 6.9 meters. 21And every living thing that moved upon the earth perished—birds, livestock, animals, every creature that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind. 22Of all that was on dry land, everything that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. 23And every living thing on the face of the earth was destroyed—man and livestock, crawling creatures and birds of the air; they were blotted out from the earth, and only Noah and those with him in the ark remained.
24And the waters prevailed upon the earth for 150 days.

Genesis 7
7
1And the Lord said to him: Go in thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee I have seen just before me in this generation.
2Of all clean beasts take seven and seven, the male and female.
3But of the beasts that are unclean two and two, the male and female. Of the fowls also of the air seven and seven, the male and the female: that seed may be saved upon the face of the whole earth.
4For yet a while, and after seven days, I will rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will destroy every substance that I have made, from the face of the earth.
5And Noe did all things which the Lord had commanded him.
6And he was six hundred years old, when the waters of the flood overflowed the earth.
7And Noe went in, and his sons, his wife and the wives of his sons with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8And of the beasts clean and unclean, and of fowls, and of every thing that moveth upon the earth,
9Two and two went in to Noe into the ark, male and female: as the Lord had commanded Noe.
10And after seven days were passed, the waters of the flood overflowed the earth.
11In the six hundreth year of the life of Noe, in the second month, in the seventeenth day of the month, all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the flood gates of heaven were opened:
12And the rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
13In the selfsame day, Noe, and Sem, and Cham, and Japheth his sons: his wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark:
14They and every beast according to its kind, and all the cattle in their kind, and every thing that moveth upon the earth according to its kind, and every fowl according to its kind, and every fowl according to its kind, all birds, and all that fly,
15Went in to Noe into the ark, two and two, of all flesh wherein was the breath of life.
16And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in on the outside.
17And the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters increased, and lifted up the ark on high from earth.
18For they overflowed exceedingly: and filled all on the face of the earth: and the ark was carried upon the waters.
19And the waters prevailed beyond measure upon the earth: and all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered.
20The water was fifteen cubits higher than the mountains which it covered.
21And all flesh was destroyed that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beasts, and of all creeping things that creep upon the earth: and all men.
22And all things wherein there is the breath of life on the earth, died.
23And he destroyed all the substance that was upon the earth, from man to beast, and the creeping things and fowls of the air: and they were destroyed from the earth. And Noe only remained, and they that were with him in the ark.
24And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.
