Psalms 33
33
Sing Praises to the Lord
1You are the Lord's people.
Obey him and celebrate!
He deserves your praise.
2Praise the Lord with harps!
Use harps with ten strings
to make music for him.
3Sing a new song. Shout!
Play beautiful music.
4The Lord is truthful;
he can be trusted.
5He loves justice and fairness,
and he is kind to everyone
everywhere on earth.
6The Lord made the heavens
and everything in them
by his word.
7He scooped up the ocean
and stored the water.
8Everyone in this world
should worship and honor
the Lord!
9As soon as he spoke
the world was created;
at his command,
the earth was formed.
10The Lord destroys the plans
and spoils the schemes
of the nations.
11But what the Lord has planned
will stand forever.
His thoughts never change.
12The Lord blesses each nation
that worships only him.
He blesses his chosen ones.
13The Lord looks at the world
14from his throne in heaven,
and he watches us all.
15The Lord gave us each a mind,
and nothing we do
can be hidden from him.
16 #
Jdt 9.7; 1 Macc 3.19. Mighty armies alone
cannot win wars for a king;
great strength by itself
cannot keep a soldier safe.
17In war the strength of a horse
cannot be trusted
to take you to safety.
18But the Lord watches over
all
who honor him
and trust his kindness.
19He protects them from death
and starvation.
20We depend on you, Lord,
to help and protect us.
21You make our hearts glad
because we trust you,
the only God.
22Be kind and bless us!
We depend on you.

Psalms 33
33
1Rejoice in the Lord, good people!
It is only right for good people to praise him.
2Play the lyre and praise the Lord.
Play the ten-stringed harp for him.
3Sing a new song#33:3 new song Whenever God did a new and wonderful thing for his people, they would write a new song about it. to him.
Play it well and sing it loud!
4The Lord’s word is true,
and he is faithful in everything he does.
5He loves goodness and justice.
The Lord’s faithful love fills the earth.
6The Lord spoke the command, and the world was made.
The breath from his mouth created everything in the heavens.
7He gathered together the water of the sea.
He put the ocean in its place.
8Everyone on earth should fear and respect the Lord.
All the people in the world should fear him,
9because when he speaks, things happen.
And if he says, “Stop!”—then it stops.#33:9 And if … stops Or “He gives the command, and it stands!” The word “stand” can mean “stand forever” or “stop.”
10The Lord can ruin every decision the nations make.
He can spoil all their plans.
11But the Lord’s decisions are good forever.
His plans are good for generation after generation.
12Great blessings belong to those who have the Lord as their God!
He chose them to be his own special people.
13The Lord looked down from heaven
and saw all the people.
14From his high throne he looked down
at all the people living on earth.
15He created every person’s mind,
and he knows what each one is doing.
16A king is not saved by the power of his army.
A soldier does not survive by his own great strength.
17Horses don’t really bring victory in war.
Their strength cannot help you escape.
18The Lord watches over his followers,
those who wait for him to show his faithful love.
19He saves them from death.
He gives them strength when they are hungry.
20So we will wait for the Lord.
He helps us and protects us.
21He makes us happy.
We trust his holy name.
22Lord, we worship you,
so show your great love for us.
