Immoral Followers

Dt 22.30. I have heard terrible things about some of you. In fact, you are behaving worse than Gentiles. A man is even sleeping with his own stepmother.#5.1 is even sleeping with his own stepmother: Or “has even married his own stepmother.” 2You are proud, when you ought to feel bad enough to chase away anyone who acts like this.
3-4I am with you only in my thoughts. But in the name of our Lord Jesus I have already judged this man, as though I were with you in person. So when you meet together and the power of the Lord Jesus is with you, I will be there too. 5You must then hand that man over to Satan. His body will be destroyed, but his spirit will be saved when the Lord Jesus returns.

Ga 5.9. Stop being proud! Don't you know how a little yeast can spread through the whole batch of dough? 7#Ex 12.4,5. Get rid of the old yeast! Then you will be like fresh bread made without yeast, and this is what you are. Our Passover lamb is Christ, who has already been sacrificed. 8#Ex 13.7; Dt 16.3,4. So don't celebrate the festival by being evil and sinful, which is like serving bread made with yeast. Be pure and truthful and celebrate by using bread made without yeast.
9In my other letter#5.9 other letter: An unknown letter that Paul wrote to the Christians at Corinth before he wrote this one. I told you not to have anything to do with immoral people. 10But I wasn't talking about the people of this world. You would have to leave this world to get away from everyone who is immoral or greedy or who cheats or worships idols. 11I was talking about your own people who are immoral or greedy or worship idols or curse others or get drunk or cheat. Don't even eat with them! 12Why should I judge outsiders? Aren't we supposed to judge only church members? 13#Dt 13.5; 17.5-7 (LXX). God judges everyone else. The Scriptures say, “Chase away any of your own people who are evil.”

Sexual Immorality Defiles the Church
1It is actually reported that there is #2 Cor. 12:21 sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, #Lev. 18:8; Deut. 22:30; 27:20for a man has his father’s wife. 2And #See ch. 4:6 you are arrogant! Ought you #[2 Cor. 7:7-10]not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.
3For though #Col. 2:5; [1 Thess. 2:17]absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. 4When you are assembled #2 Thess. 3:6; [Matt. 16:19; 18:18; John 20:23; 2 Cor. 13:3, 10; 1 Tim. 5:20]in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, 5you are #1 Tim. 1:20; [Job 2:6; Acts 26:18] to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so #[Prov. 23:14] that his spirit may be saved #See ch. 1:8in the day of the Lord.#5:5 Some manuscripts add Jesus

James 4:16; [ver. 2] Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that #Gal. 5:9; [ch. 15:33]a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8Let us therefore celebrate the festival, #Ex. 12:15; Deut. 16:3 not with the old leaven, #[Matt. 16:6, 12; Mark 8:15; Luke 12:1]the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9I wrote to you in my letter #[2 Cor. 6:14; Eph. 5:11; 2 Thess. 3:6, 14]not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10#[ch. 10:27] not at all meaning #Eph. 5:5; Col. 3:5; [ch. 6:9] the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, #[John 17:15]since then you would need to go out of the world. 11But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone #2 Thess. 3:6who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12For what have I to do with judging #See Mark 4:11 outsiders? #[ch. 6:1-4]Is it not those inside the church#5:12 Greek those inside whom you are to judge? 13God judges#5:13 Or will judge those outside. #[Deut. 13:5; 17:7, 12; 21:21; 22:21, 22, 24; Judg. 20:13]“Purge the evil person from among you.”
