2 Corinthians 6
6
1In our work together with God, then, we beg you who have received God's grace not to let it be wasted. 2#Is 49.8Hear what God says:
“When the time came for me to show you favour
I heard you;
when the day arrived for me to save you,
I helped you.”
Listen! This is the hour to receive God's favour; today is the day to be saved!
3We do not want anyone to find fault with our work, so we try not to put obstacles in anyone's way. 4Instead, in everything we do we show that we are God's servants by patiently enduring troubles, hardships, and difficulties. 5#Acts 16.23We have been beaten, imprisoned, and mobbed; we have been overworked and have gone without sleep or food. 6By our purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness we have shown ourselves to be God's servants — by the Holy Spirit, by our true love, 7by our message of truth, and by the power of God. We have righteousness as our weapon, both to attack and to defend ourselves. 8We are honoured and disgraced; we are insulted and praised. We are treated as liars, yet we speak the truth; 9as unknown, yet we are known by all; as though we were dead, but, as you see, we live on. Although punished, we are not killed; 10although saddened, we are always glad; we seem poor, but we make many people rich; we seem to have nothing, yet we really possess everything.
11Dear friends in Corinth! We have spoken frankly to you; we have opened our hearts wide. 12It is not we who have closed our hearts to you; it is you who have closed your hearts to us. 13I speak now as though you were my children: show us the same feelings that we have for you. Open your hearts wide!
Warning against Pagan Influences
14Do not try to work together as equals with unbelievers, for it cannot be done. How can right and wrong be partners? How can light and darkness live together? 15How can Christ and the Devil agree? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16#Lev 26.12; Ezek 37.27; 1 Cor 3.16; 6.19How can God's temple come to terms with pagan idols? For we are the temple of the living God! As God himself has said:
“I will make my home with my people
and live among them;
I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.”
17 #
Is 52.11
And so the Lord says,
“You must leave them
and separate yourselves from them.
Have nothing to do with what is unclean,
and I will accept you.
18 #
2 Sam 7.14; 1 Chr 17.13; Is 43.6; Jer 31.9 I will be your father,
and you shall be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.”

Marks of the Ministry
1We then, as #1 Cor. 3:9workers together with Him also #2 Cor. 5:20plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2For He says:
#Is. 49:8“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
3#Rom. 14:13We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed. 4But in all things we commend ourselves #1 Cor. 4:1as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, 5#2 Cor. 11:23in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in fastings; 6by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, 7#2 Cor. 7:14by the word of truth, by #1 Cor. 2:4the power of God, by #Rom. 13:12; 2 Cor. 10:4the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 8by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; 9as unknown, and #2 Cor. 4:2; 5:11yet well known; #1 Cor. 4:9, 11as dying, and behold we live; #Ps. 118:18as chastened, and yet not killed; 10as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many #1 Cor. 1:5; (2 Cor. 8:9)rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
Be Holy
11O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, #Is. 60:5; 2 Cor. 7:3our heart is wide open. 12You are not restricted by us, but #2 Cor. 12:15you are restricted by your own affections. 13Now in return for the same #1 Cor. 4:14(I speak as to children), you also be open.
14#Deut. 7:2, 3; 22:10; 1 Cor. 5:9Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For #1 Sam. 5:2, 3; 1 Kin. 18:21; Eph. 5:6, 7, 11; 1 John 1:6what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For #(1 Cor. 3:16, 17; 6:19); Eph. 2:21; (Heb. 3:6)you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
#Ex. 29:45; Lev. 26:12; Jer. 31:33; 32:38; Ezek. 37:26, 27; Zech. 8:8“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”
17Therefore
#Num. 33:51–56; Is. 52:11; Rev. 18:4“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
18“I #2 Sam. 7:14; Jer. 31:1, 9; (Rev. 21:7)will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My #(John 1:12; Rom. 8:14; Gal. 4:5–7); Phil. 2:15; 1 John 3:1sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.”
