Church Worship
1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, requests, and thanksgivings be offered to God for all people; 2for kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence towards God and with proper conduct. 3This is good and it pleases God our Saviour, 4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth. 5For there is one God, and there is one who brings God and human beings together, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself to redeem everyone. That was the proof at the right time that God wants everyone to be saved, 7#2 Tim 1.11and that is why I was sent as an apostle and teacher of the Gentiles, to proclaim the message of faith and truth. I am not lying; I am telling the truth!
8In every church service I want the men to pray, men who are dedicated to God and can lift up their hands in prayer without anger or argument. 9#1 Pet 3.3I also want the women to be modest and sensible about their clothes and to dress properly; not with fancy hair styles or with gold ornaments or pearls or expensive dresses, 10but with good deeds, as is proper for women who claim to be religious. 11Women should learn in silence and all humility. 12I do not allow them to teach or to have authority over men; they must keep quiet. 13#Gen 2.7, 21–22For Adam was created first, and then Eve. 14#Gen 3.1–6And it was not Adam who was deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and broke God's law. 15But a woman will be saved through having children,#2.15 will be saved through having children; or will be kept safe through childbirth. if she perseveres#2.15 if she perseveres; or if they persevere. in faith and love and holiness, with modesty.

Some Rules for Men and Women
1First, I tell you to pray for all people. Ask God for the things people need, and be thankful to him. 2You should pray for kings and for all who have authority. Pray for the leaders so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives—lives full of worship and respect for God. 3This is good, and it pleases God our Savior. 4God wants all people to be saved. And he wants everyone to know the truth. 5There is only one God. And there is only one way that people can reach God. That way is through Jesus Christ, who is also a man. 6Jesus gave himself to pay for the sins of all people. Jesus is proof that God wants all people to be saved. And that proof came at the right time. 7That is why I was chosen to tell the Good News and was chosen to be an apostle. (I am telling the truth. I am not lying.) I was chosen to teach the non-Jewish people to believe and to know the truth.
8I want men everywhere to pray. These men who lift up their hands in prayer must be holy. They must not be men who become angry and have arguments.
9I also want women to wear clothes that are right for them. They should dress with respect and right thinking. They should not use fancy braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes to make themselves beautiful. 10But they should make themselves beautiful by doing good deeds. Women who say they worship God should make themselves beautiful in that way.
11A woman should learn by listening quietly and being fully ready to obey. 12I do not allow a woman to teach a man or to have authority over a man. She must remain silent. 13For Adam was made first; Eve was made later. 14Also, Adam was not the one who was tricked by the devil. It was the woman who was tricked and became a sinner. 15But women will be saved through having children. They will be saved if they continue in faith, love, holiness, and self-control.
