1 Timothy 2

Church Worship
1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, requests, and thanksgivings be offered to God for all people; 2for kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence towards God and with proper conduct. 3This is good and it pleases God our Saviour, 4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth. 5For there is one God, and there is one who brings God and human beings together, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself to redeem everyone. That was the proof at the right time that God wants everyone to be saved, 7#2 Tim 1.11and that is why I was sent as an apostle and teacher of the Gentiles, to proclaim the message of faith and truth. I am not lying; I am telling the truth!
8In every church service I want the men to pray, men who are dedicated to God and can lift up their hands in prayer without anger or argument. 9#1 Pet 3.3I also want the women to be modest and sensible about their clothes and to dress properly; not with fancy hair styles or with gold ornaments or pearls or expensive dresses, 10but with good deeds, as is proper for women who claim to be religious. 11Women should learn in silence and all humility. 12I do not allow them to teach or to have authority over men; they must keep quiet. 13#Gen 2.7, 21–22For Adam was created first, and then Eve. 14#Gen 3.1–6And it was not Adam who was deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and broke God's law. 15But a woman will be saved through having children,#2.15 will be saved through having children; or will be kept safe through childbirth. if she perseveres#2.15 if she perseveres; or if they persevere. in faith and love and holiness, with modesty.

1 Timothy 2
1¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men,
2for kings, and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and integrity.
3For this is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,
4who desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth.
5For there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
6who gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time,
7of which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
8I desire, therefore, that the men in every place, pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and strife.
9¶ In like manner also that the women adorn themselves in an honest manner, with shyness and modesty, not with ostentatious hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing
10but with good works (as becomes women professing godliness).
11Let the woman learn, becoming silent in all subjection.
12For I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a mature man, but to be at rest.
13For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived in the rebellion;
15notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if she continues in faith and charity and sanctification and modesty.
