Psalms 132
132
(A song for worship.)
The LORD is always with his people
1Our LORD, don't forget David
and how he suffered.
2Mighty God of Jacob,
remember how he promised:
3“I won't go home
or crawl into bed
4or close my eyelids,
5until I find a home for you,
the mighty LORD God of Jacob.”
6When we were in Ephrath,#2 Ch 6.41,42.
we heard that the sacred chest
was somewhere near Jaar.
7Then we said, “Let's go
to the throne of the LORD
and worship at his feet.”
8Come to your new home, LORD,
you and the sacred chest
with all its power.
9Let victory be like robes
for the priests;
let your faithful people
celebrate and shout.
10David is your chosen one,
so don't reject him.
11You made a solemn promise#2 S 7.12-16; 1 Ch 17.11-14; Ps 89.3,4; Ac 2.30.
to David, when you said,
“I, the LORD, promise
that someone in your family
will always be king.
12If they keep our agreement
and follow my teachings,
then someone in your family
will rule for ever.”
13You have gladly chosen Zion
as your home, our LORD.
14You said, “This is my home!
I will live here for ever.
15I will bless Zion with food,
and even the poor will eat
until they are full.
16Victory will be like robes
for the priests,
and its faithful people
will celebrate and shout.
17I will give mighty power#1 K 11.36.
to the kingdom of David.
Each one of my chosen kings
will shine like a lamp
18and wear a sparkling crown.
But I will disgrace
their enemies.”

Promise of Ben-David
1A Song of Ascents. Adonai, remember David, all his afflictions,
2and how he swore to Adonai, vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3“I will not enter the tent of my house nor lie on my bed,
4nor will I will give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids,
5till I find a place for Adonai, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6Behold, we heard of it in Ephratha, we found it in the fields of Joar.
7Let us go into His dwelling place, let us bow at His footstool.
8Arise, Adonai, to Your resting place— You, and the Ark of Your might.
9Let Your kohanim wear righteousness, and let Your godly ones sing for joy.
10For Your servant David’s sake do not turn away the face of Your anointed.
11Adonai has sworn to David a true promise He will not revoke: “From the fruit of your body I will set one upon your throne—
12if your children keep My covenant and My law that I will teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne forever.”
13For Adonai has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling:
14“This is My resting place forever. Here I dwell, for I have desired it.
15I will abundantly bless her food. I will satisfy her needy ones with bread.
16I will clothe her kohanim with salvation, and her godly ones will sing aloud for joy.
17There will I make a horn spring up for David, I have set up a lamp for My anointed.
18His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon himself his crown will shine.”
