Psalms 116
116
When the LORD saves you from death
1I love you, LORD!
You answered my prayers.
2You paid attention to me,
and so I will pray to you
as long as I live.
3Death attacked from all sides,
and I was captured
by its painful chains.
But when I was really suffering,
4I prayed and said, “LORD,
please don't let me die!”
5You are kind, LORD,
so good and merciful.
6You protect ordinary people,
and when I was helpless,
you saved me
7and treated me so kindly
that I don't need
to worry any more.
8You, LORD, have saved
my life from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling.
9Now I will walk at your side
in this land of the living.
10I was faithful to you#2 Co 4.13.
when I was suffering,
11though in my confusion I said,
“I can't trust anyone!”
12What must I give you, LORD,
for being so good to me?
13I will pour out an offering
of wine to you,
and I will pray in your name
because you
have saved me.
14I will keep my promise to you
when your people meet.
15You are deeply concerned
when one of your loyal people
faces death.
16I worship you, LORD,
just as my mother did,
and you have rescued me
from the chains of death.
17I will offer you a sacrifice
to show how grateful I am,
and I will pray.
18I will keep my promise to you
when your people
19gather at your temple
in Jerusalem.
Shout praises to the LORD!

Tehillim 116
116
1I love Hashem, because He hath heard my kol (voice), even my techinnah.
2Because He hath inclined His ozen (ear) unto me, therefore will I call upon Him while I have days.
3Chevlei mavet (pangs of death) encompassed me, and the metzarei She'ol (confines, straitnesses of She'ol) have caught up with me and found me; tzoros and yagon (sorrow) I found.
4Then called I b'Shem Hashem: O Hashem, save my nefesh!
5Channun (gracious) is Hashem, and tzaddik; yes, Eloheinu is merciful.
6 Hashem is shomer over the petayim (simple-hearted, helpless); I was in need and li yehoshia (me He saved).
7Return, my nefesh, to thy menuchah (rest, resting place); for Hashem hath dealt bountifully with thee.
8For Thou hast saved my nefesh from mavet (death), mine eye from dimah (tears), and mine regel (foot) from stumbling.
9I will walk before Hashem in the Artzot HaChayim (the Land of the Living).#116:9 T.N. Note that I can do that because Moshiach was cut off from there in my place and for my sins — Isa 53:8
10He'emaneti (I believed); therefore have I spoken; I was greatly afflicted.
11I said in my chafaz (haste, alarm, consternation), Kol HaAdam Kozev (all men are liars).
12How shall I repay Hashem for all His benefits to me?
13I will raise the Kos Yeshu'ot (the Cup of Salvation), and call upon Hashem b'Shem (by Name).
14I will fulfill my nederim (vows) unto Hashem now in the presence of all His people.
15Precious in the eyes of Hashem is the mavet of His Chasidim.
16O Hashem, truly I am Thy eved; I am Thy eved, ben amatecha (the son of Thy maid servant); Thou hast removed my chains.
17I will sacrifice to Thee the zevach todah (the thanksgiving offering) and will call on the Shem Hashem.
18I will fulfill my nederim to Hashem now in the presence of all His people.
19In the khatzerot Beis Hashem, in the midst of thee, O Yerushalayim. Praise ye Hashem.
