Descendientes de Esaú
(1 Cr 1,34-54)
1Estos son los descendientes de Esaú, o sea Edom. 2Esaú se casó con mujeres cananeas: con Adá, hija del hitita Elón; con Olibamá, hija de Aná y nieta de Sibeón el jeveo;#26,34-35; 36,20. 3y con Basemat, hija de Ismael y hermana de Nebayot. 4El hijo que Adá dio a Esaú fue Elifaz; Basemat dio a luz a Reguel; 5y Olibamá dio a luz a Jeús, Jalón y Coraj. Estos son los hijos que le nacieron a Esaú en tierra de Canaán.
6Esaú tomó a sus esposas junto con sus hijos e hijas y a todos los que vivían con él, todos sus rebaños y ganados y cuanto había adquirido en la tierra de Canaán, y se fue a otra región, lejos de su hermano Jacob. 7Era tanto lo que poseían los dos que ya no podían vivir juntos; además, la tierra donde vivían no bastaba para alimentar al ganado de ambos. 8Fue así como Esaú, o sea Edom, se asentó en la región montañosa de Seír.
9Estos son los descendientes de Esaú, padre de los edomitas, en la montaña de Seír. 10Los nombres de los hijos de Esaú son estos: Elifaz, hijo de Adá y Esaú; y Reguel, hijo de Basemat y Esaú. 11Los hijos de Elifaz fueron: Temán, Omar, Sefó, Gatán y Quenaz. 12Elifaz tuvo una concubina llamada Timná, la cual le dio un hijo que se llamó Amalec. Estos fueron los descendientes de Adá, mujer de Esaú. 13Los hijos de Reguel fueron: Nájat, Zéraj, Samá y Mizá. Estos fueron los descendientes de Basemat, mujer de Esaú. 14Los hijos de Olibamá, mujer de Esaú, hija de Aná y nieta de Sibeón, fueron: Jeús, Jalón y Coraj.
15Los jefes de tribu de los descendientes de Esaú fueron: De los hijos de Elifaz, primogénito de Esaú, los jefes de tribu fueron: Temán, Omar, Sefó, Quenaz, 16Coraj, Gatán y Amalec.
Estos fueron los jefes de tribu de Elifaz en la tierra de Edom, todos ellos descendientes de Adá. 17De los hijos de Reguel, hijo de Esaú, los jefes de tribu fueron: Nájat, Zéraj, Samá y Mizá.
Estos fueron los jefes de tribu de Reguel en la tierra de Edom, todos ellos descendientes de Basemat, mujer de Esaú. 18De los hijos de Olibamá, hija de Aná y mujer de Esaú, los jefes de tribu fueron: Jeús, Jalón y Coraj. 19Estos fueron los hijos de Esaú, o sea Edom, y sus jefes de tribus.
20Los hijos de Seír, el jorreo, que vivía en aquella región, fueron: Lotán, Sobal, Sibeón, Aná, 21Disón, Éser y Disán. Estos fueron los jefes de tribu de los jorreos, hijos de Seír, en la tierra de Edom. 22Los hijos de Lotán fueron: Jorí y Hemán. Lotán tenía una hermana llamada Timná. 23Los hijos de Sobal fueron: Alván, Manajat, Ébal, Sefó y Onán. 24Los hijos de Sibeón fueron: Ayá y Aná. Este Aná fue el que encontró en el desierto aguas termales mientras apacentaba los asnos de su padre Sibeón. 25Los hijos de Aná fueron: Disón y Olibamá, hija de Aná. 26Los hijos de Disón fueron: Jemdán, Esbán, Jitrán y Querán. 27Los hijos de Éser fueron: Bilán, Zaaván y Acán. 28Los hijos de Disán fueron: Us y Arán.
29Los jefes de las tribus de los jorreos fueron: Lotán, Sobal, Sibeón, Aná, 30Disón, Éser y Disán.
Estos fueron los jefes de las tribus de los jorreos. Cada uno de ellos fue jefe de su tribu en la región de Seír.
Los reyes de Edom
31Antes de que los israelitas tuvieran rey, estos fueron los reyes que reinaron en la tierra de Edom: 32Bela, hijo de Beor, reinó en Edom; el nombre de su capital era Dinhabá. 33Cuando Bela murió lo sucedió en el trono Jobab, hijo de Zeraj de Bosrá; 34a Jobab lo sucedió Jusán, natural de Temán; 35a Jusán lo sucedió Adad, hijo de Badad, que derrotó a Madián en los campos de Moab; el nombre de su capital era Avit. 36A Adad lo sucedió Samlá de Masrecá; 37a Samlá lo sucedió Saúl de Rejobot Janajar; 38a Saúl lo sucedió Baaljanán, hijo de Acbor; 39a Baaljanán, hijo de Acbor, lo sucedió Adar; su capital se llamaba Pau y su mujer Metabel, hija de Matrad, hija de Mezaab.
40Estos son los nombres de los jefes de tribu de Esaú según su clan, región y nombre: Timná, Alvá, Jetet, 41Olibamá, Elá, Finón, 42Quenaz, Temán, Mibsar, 43Magdiel e Irán.
Estos fueron los jefes de tribu de Edom, de acuerdo con los lugares que habitaron en el territorio de su propiedad.
Este es Esaú, antepasado de los edomitas.

Esau’s Family
1These are the family records # Gn 2:4; 36:9 of Esau (that is, Edom # Gn 25:30). 2Esau took his wives from the Canaanite women: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, # Gn 26:34 Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter # Sam, LXX read Anah son of Zibeon the Hivite, 3and Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth. # Gn 28:9 4Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel, 5and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These were Esau’s sons, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6Esau took his wives, sons, daughters, and all the people of his household, as well as his herds, all his livestock, and all the property he had acquired in Canaan; he went to a land away from his brother Jacob. 7For their possessions were too many for them to live together, # Gn 13:6 and because of their herds, the land where they stayed could not support them. # Gn 17:8; Heb 11:9 8So Esau (that is, Edom) lived in the mountains of Seir. # Dt 2:5

Eliphaz son of Esau’s wife Adah,
and Reuel son of Esau’s wife Basemath.
11The sons of Eliphaz were
Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
12Timna, a concubine of Esau’s son Eliphaz,
bore Amalek to Eliphaz.
These were the sons of Esau’s wife Adah.
13These are Reuel’s sons:
Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.

These are the sons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
18These are the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah:
Chiefs Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
These are the chiefs of Esau’s wife Oholibamah
daughter of Anah.
19These are the sons of Esau (that is, Edom),
and these are their chiefs.
Seir’s Family
20These are the sons of Seir the Horite, # Gn 14:6; Dt 2:12,22; 1Ch 1:38-42
the inhabitants of the land:
Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
These are the chiefs of the Horites,
the sons of Seir, in the land of Edom.
22The sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman.
Timna was Lotan’s sister.
23These are Shobal’s sons:
Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24These are Zibeon’s sons: Aiah and Anah.
This was the Anah who found the hot springs # Syr, Vg; Tg reads the mules ; Hb obscure in the wilderness
while he was pasturing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.
25These are the children of Anah:
Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.
26These are Dishon’s sons:
Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.
27These are Ezer’s sons:
Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
28These are Dishan’s sons: Uz and Aran.
29These are the chiefs of the Horites:
Chiefs Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
30Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
These are the chiefs of the Horites,
according to their divisions, in the land of Seir.
Rulers of Edom
31These are the kings who ruled in the land of Edom # Gn 17:6,16; 35:11; 1Ch 1:43-54
before any king ruled over the Israelites:
32Bela son of Beor ruled in Edom;
the name of his city was Dinhabah.
33When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah became king in his place.
34When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites became king in his place.
35When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad became king in his place.
He defeated Midian in the field of Moab;
the name of his city was Avith.
36When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah became king in his place.
37When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the Euphrates River became king in his place.
38When Shaul died, Baal-hanan son of Achbor became king in his place.
39When Baal-hanan son of Achbor died, Hadar # Many Hb mss, Sam, Syr read Hadad became king in his place.
His city was Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel
daughter of Matred daughter of Me-zahab.
40These are the names of Esau’s chiefs,
according to their families and their localities,
by their names:
Chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
41Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
43Magdiel, and Iram.
These are Edom’s chiefs,
according to their settlements in the land they possessed.
Esau # Lit He Esau was father of the Edomites.
