Matthew 28:12-15

So the chief priests met with the elders and came up with a plan. They gave the soldiers a large amount of money and told them to say, “His disciples came during the night and stole his body while we were sleeping.” They added, “If the governor hears this report, we’ll make sure you don’t get into trouble.” So the soldiers took the money and did as they were told, and their story is still being told among the Jews to this day.
