Romans 16

CHAPTER 16
1And I commend to you Phebe, our sister, which is in the service of the church that is at Cenchrea,
2that ye receive her in the Lord worthily to saints, and that ye help her in whatever cause she shall need of you. For she hath helped many men, and myself.
3Greet Priscilla and Aquila, mine helpers in Christ Jesus,
4which under-putted their necks for my life; to whom not I alone do thankings, but also all the churches of heathen men.
5And greet ye well their menial church [or their home-church]. Greet well Epaenetus, beloved to me, that is the first of Asia in Christ, Jesus.
6Greet well Mary, the which hath travailed much in us.
7Greet well Andronicus and Junia, my cousins, and mine even-prisoners, which be noble among the apostles, and which were before me in Christ.
8Greet well Amplias, most dear-worthy to me in the Lord.
9Greet well Urbane, our helper in Christ Jesus, and Stachys, my darling [or my beloved].
10Greet well Apelles, the noble in Christ [or noble in Christ]. Greet well them that be of Aristobulus’ house.
11Greet well Herodion, my cousin. Greet well them that be of Narcissus’ house, that be in the Lord.
12Greet well Tryphena and Tryphosa, which women travail in the Lord. Greet well Persis, most dearworthy woman, that hath travailed much in the Lord.
13Greet well Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, and mine.
14Greet well Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and brethren that be with them.
15Greet well Philologus, and Julia, and Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints that be with them.
16Greet ye well together in holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you well.
17But, brethren, I pray you, that ye espy them that make dissensions and hurtings [or offences], besides the doctrine that ye have learned, and bow away from them.
18For such men serve not to the Lord Christ, but to their womb, and by sweet words and blessings deceive the hearts of innocent men.
19But your obedience is published into every place, therefore I have joy in you. But I will, that ye be wise in good thing, and simple in evil.
20And God of peace tread Satan under your feet swiftly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
21Timothy, mine helper, greeteth you well, and also Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my cousins.
22I Tertius greet you well, that wrote this epistle, in the Lord.
23Gaius, mine host, greeteth you well, and all the church. Erastus, treasurer, [or keeper], of the city, greeteth you well, and Quartus [the] brother.
24The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
25And honour and glory be to him, that is mighty to confirm you by my gospel, and preaching of Jesus Christ, by the revelation of mystery held still, [that is, not showed], in times ever-lasting;
26which mystery is now made open by scriptures of prophets, by the commandment of God without begin-ning and ending, to the obedience of faith in all heathen men,
27 the mystery known by Jesus Christ to God alone wise [or the mystery known to God alone wise by Jesus Christ], to whom be honour and glory into worlds of worlds. Amen.

Personal Greetings
1Let me introduce our sister Phoebe, who’s bringing this letter to you as my representative. She’s a deacon of the church in Cenchreae. 2Please offer her your hospitality, in the way God’s people should welcome a fellow believer. I ask you to help with anything she might need from you, because she has been very helpful to many people herself, including me.
3Greet Priscilla and Aquila, who work together with me in serving Christ Jesus. 4They have put their lives in danger for me, and I’m thankful for them, as are all the Gentile churches. 5Also please greet the church that meets in their house.
Greet my dear friend Epenetus. He was the first person in the province of Asia to believe in Christ.
6Greet Mary, who worked very hard for you.
7Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews. They have been in prison with me, and they are leaders among the apostles. They became believers in Christ before I did.
8Greet Ampliatus, my dear friend in the Lord.
9Greet Urbanus, who works together with me in serving Christ, and greet my dear friend Stachys.
10Greet Apelles, who remained faithful to Christ even when he was tested.
Greet those who live in the house of Aristobulus.
11Greet Herodion, my fellow Jew.
Greet the believers who live in the house of Narcissus.
12Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard for the Lord.
Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard for the Lord.
13Greet Rufus, a chosen believer in the Lord, and greet his mother, who has been a mother to me too.
14Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the other brothers and sisters with them.
15Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, Olympas, and all of the Lord’s people who are with them.
16Greet one another with a holy kiss.
All the churches of Christ send their greetings.
17I warn you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and who trip you up by teaching you things that are the opposite of what you’ve learned. Stay away from them, 18because people like that are serving their own appetites, not our Lord Jesus Christ. With smooth talk and flattery they fool people who don’t know any better. 19But everyone has heard that you obey God, and that makes me very happy. I want you to be wise about what is good but not know anything about what is evil.
20The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
21Timothy, who works with me, sends you his greetings. So do Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my fellow Jews.
22I, Tertius, who wrote down this letter as Paul dictated it, greet you in the Lord.
23-24Gaius sends you his greetings. I’m staying with him here, and the whole church meets in his house.
Erastus, the director of public works here in the city, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings.
25God is able to strengthen you through the good news, which is the message I preach about Jesus Christ. There was a mystery that had been kept hidden for a very long time. 26But now it has been made known to all the Gentiles through the writings of the prophets, as the eternal God has commanded. Through the revelation of this mystery, the Gentiles are starting to obey God by trusting in him. 27May the only wise God receive glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
