Exodus 37

CHAPTER 37
1Forsooth Bezaleel made also an ark of the wood of shittim, having two cubits and an half in length, and a cubit and an half in breadth; forsooth the height was of one cubit and an half;
2and he covered the ark with purest gold, within and withoutforth. And he made to it a golden crown by compass,
3and he melted out four golden rings, to be set by the four corners thereof, two rings in one side, and two rings in the other side.
4And he made bars of the wood of shittim, or acacia wood, the which he covered with gold,
5and which bars he put into the rings that were in the sides of the ark, to bear it.
6He made also a propitiatory, that is, God’s answering place, of purest gold, of two cubits and an half in length, and one cubit and an half in breadth.
7Also he made two cherubims [or cherubim] of gold, beaten out with an hammer, which he set on ever either side of the propitiatory,
8one cherub in the height of the one part, and the tother cherub in the height of the tother part; two cherubims [or cherubim], one in each highness of the propitiatory,
9stretching out the wings, and covering the propitiatory, and beholding themselves together, and that propitiatory.
10He made also a board of the wood of shittim, in the length of two cubits, and in the breadth of one cubit, which board had a cubit and an half in height.
11And he compassed the table with cleanest gold, and made to it a golden brink by compass;
12and he made to that brink a golden crown, raised betwixt of four fingers; and on the same crown he made another golden crown.
13Also he melted out four golden rings, which he put into the four corners, by all the feet of the table against the crown,
14and he put bars into the circles, or rings, that the table might be borne.
15And he made the bars of the wood of shittim, and compassed those [or them] with gold.
16And he made [the] vessels to diverse uses of the board, vessels of vinegar, vials, and little cups, and censers of pure gold, in which the flowing sacrifices shall be offered.
17And he made a candlestick, beaten out with an hammer, of cleanest gold, of whose stock, rods, cups, and little roundels [or balls], and lilies came forth;
18six in ever either side, three rods on one side, and three on the other side;
19three cups in the manner of a nut by each rod, and little roundels [or balls] together, and lilies; and three cups at the likeness of a nut in the tother rod, and little roundels together, and lilies; forsooth the work of six shafts that came forth of the stock of the candlestick, was even.
20Soothly in that stock were four cups, in the manner of a nut, and little roundels [or balls] and lilies were by all the cups;
21and [the] little roundels were under the two shafts by three places, which altogether be made six shafts coming forth of one stock;
22therefore the little roundels [or balls], and the shafts thereof, were all beaten out with hammer, of purest gold.
23He made also seven lanterns, with their snuffing tongs, and the vessels where the snuffs be quenched, of cleanest gold.
24The candlestick with all his vessels weighed a talent of gold.
25He made also the altar of incense, of the wood of shittim, having a cubit by square, that is, on each side one cubit, and two cubits in height, of whose corners came forth horns.
26And he covered it with cleanest gold, and the griddle, and walls, and the horns; and he made to it a little golden crown by compass,
27and two golden rings under the crown, by each side, that [the] bars be put into those [or them], and the altar may be borne.
28Forsooth he made those bars of the wood of shittim, or acacia wood, and covered them with golden plates.
29He made also oil to the ointment of hallowing, and [the] incense of sweet smelling spiceries [or spices], most clean, by the work of apothecary.

The Sacred Chest
(Exodus 25.10-22)
1Bezalel built a chest of acacia wood 110 centimeters long, 66 centimeters wide, and 66 centimeters high. 2He covered it inside and out with pure gold and put a gold edging around the top. 3He made four gold rings and attached one of them to each of the four legs of the chest. 4Then he made two poles of acacia wood, covered them with gold, 5and put them through the rings, so the chest could be carried by the poles.
6The entire lid of the chest, which was made of pure gold, was the place of mercy.#37.6 place of mercy: See the note at 26.34. 7-9On each of the two ends of the chest he made a winged creature of hammered gold. They faced each other, and their wings covered the place of mercy.
The Table for the Sacred Bread
(Exodus 25.23-30)
10Bezalel built a table of acacia wood 88 centimeters long, 44 centimeters wide, and 66 centimeters high. 11-12He covered it with pure gold and put a gold edging around it with a border 75 millimeters thick.#37.11,12 a gold edging … thick: Or “a gold edging around it 75 millimeters thick.” 13He made four gold rings and attached one to each of the legs 14near the edging. The poles for carrying the table were placed through these rings 15and were made of acacia wood covered with gold. 16Everything that was to be set on the table was made of pure gold—the bowls, plates, jars, and cups for wine offerings.
The Lampstand
(Exodus 25.31-40)
17Bezalel made a lampstand of pure gold. The whole lampstand, including its decorative flowers, was made from a single piece of hammered gold, 18with three branches on each of its two sides. 19There were three decorative almond blossoms on each branch 20and four on the stem. 21There was also a blossom where each pair of branches came out from the stem. 22The lampstand, including its branches and decorative flowers, was made from a single piece of hammered pure gold. 23-24The lamp and its equipment, including the tongs and trays, were made of about 35 kilograms of pure gold.
The Altar for Burning Incense
(Exodus 30.1-5)
25For burning incense, Bezalel made an altar of acacia wood. It was 45 centimeters square and 90 centimeters high with each of its four corners sticking up like the horn of a bull. 26He covered it with pure gold and put a gold edging around it. 27Then below the edging on opposite sides he attached two gold rings through which he put the poles for carrying the altar. 28These poles were also made of acacia wood and covered with gold.
