Exodus 35

CHAPTER 35
1Therefore when all the company of the sons of Israel was gathered, Moses said to them, These things it be, which the Lord commanded to be done.
2Six days ye shall do work, the seventh day shall be holy to you, the sabbath and the rest of the Lord; he that doeth work in the sabbath shall be slain.
3Ye shall not kindle fire in all your dwelling places by the sabbath day.
4And Moses said to all the company of the sons of Israel, This is the word which the Lord commanded, and said,
5Separate ye at you the first fruits to the Lord; each willful man and of ready will offer them to the Lord, gold, and silver, and brass,
6and jacinth, and purple, and red silk twice-dyed, and bis, and hairs of goats,
7and skins of rams made red, and skins of jacinth, and [the] wood of shittim,
8and oil to the lights to be ordained, and spices so that the ointment be made, and the incense most sweet,
9stones of onyx, and gems, to the adorning of the cloth on the shoulders [or cape], and of the rational.
10Whoever of you is wise, come he, and make that, that the Lord commanded,
11that is, the tabernacle, and the roof thereof, and the covering; rings, and the buildings of boards, with [the] bars, stakes, and foundaments;
12the ark, and bars; the propitiatory, and the veil, which is hanged before it;
13the board, with bars, and vessels, and with [the] loaves of setting forth;
14the candlestick to sustain [the] lights, the vessels, and lanterns thereof, and oil to the nourishing of fires;
15the altar of incense, and the bars; the oil of anointing, and [the] incense of sweet smelling spiceries [or spices]; the curtain at the door of the tabernacle;
16the altar of burnt sacrifice, and his brazen griddle, with his bars, and vessels; the great washing vessel, and his foundament;
17the curtains of the large entry, with the pillars, and their bases; the curtain in the doors of the porch;
18the stakes of the tabernacle, and of the large entry, with their cords;
19the clothes, whose use is in the service of the saintuary; the clothes of Aaron the bishop, and of his sons, that they be set in priesthood to me.
20And all the multitude of the sons of Israel went out of the sight of Moses,
21and offered with most ready soul and devout the first things to the Lord, to make the work of the tabernacle of witnessing, whatever was needful to the adorning, and to the holy clothes.
22Men and women gave bies of the arms, and earrings, and other rings, and ornaments of their arms nigh the hand; each golden vessel was separated into the gifts of the Lord.
23If any man had jacinth, and purple, and red silk twice-dyed, bis, and the hairs of goats, skins of rams made red, and skins of jacinth, either blue,
24metals of silver, and of brass, they offered to the Lord, and [the] wood of shittim into diverse uses.
25But also women taught gave those things, which they had spun, jacinth, and purple, and vermilion, and bis,
26and the hairs of goats; and they gave all things by their own free will.
27Forsooth princes offered stones of onyx, and gems, to the cloth on the shoulders [or cape], and to the rational,
28and sweet smelling spiceries [or spices], and oil to the lights to be ordained, and to make ready the ointment, and to make the incense of the sweetest odour.
29All men and women offered gifts with devout souls, that the works should be made, which the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses; all the sons of Israel hallowed will-fully things to the Lord.
30And Moses said to the sons of Israel, Lo! the Lord hath called Bezaleel by name, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the lineage of Judah;
31and the Lord hath filled him with the spirit of God, of wisdom, and of understanding, and of knowing, and with all doctrine,
32to find out and to make work in gold, and silver, and brass,
33and in stones to be engraved, and in work of carpentry; whatever thing may be found craftily,
34the Lord hath given in his heart; and the Lord hath called Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the lineage of Dan;
35the Lord [hath] taught both with wisdom, that they make the works of a carpenter, of a stainer, and of an embroiderer, of jacinth, and of purple, and of red silk twice-dyed, and of bis, and that they make all things, and find all new things.

Laws for the Sabbath
1Moses called together the people of Israel and told them that the Lord had said:
2 #
Ex 20.8-11; 23.12; 31.14,15; 34.21; Lv 23.3; Dt 5.12-14. You have six days in which to do your work. But the seventh day must be dedicated to me, your Lord, as a day of rest. Whoever works on the Sabbath will be put to death. 3Don't even build a cooking fire at home on the Sabbath.
Offerings for the Sacred Tent
(Exodus 25.1-9; 35.10-19)
4Moses told the people of Israel that the Lord had said:
5I will welcome an offering from anyone who wants to give something. You may bring gold, silver, or bronze; 6blue, purple, or red wool; fine linen; goat hair; 7tanned ram skin or fine leather; acacia wood; 8olive oil for the lamp; sweet-smelling spices for the oil of dedication and for the incense; or 9onyx#35.9 onyx: See the note at 25.7. stones or other gems for the sacred vest and breastpiece.
10If you have any skills, you should use them to help make what I have commanded: 11the sacred tent with its covering and hooks, its framework and crossbars, and its post and stands; 12the sacred chest with its carrying poles, its place of mercy, and the curtain in front of it; 13the table with its carrying poles and all that goes on it, including the sacred bread; 14the lamp with its equipment and oil; 15the incense altar with its carrying poles and sweet-smelling incense; the ordination oil; the curtain for the entrance to the sacred tent; 16the altar for sacrifices with its bronze grating, its carrying poles, and its equipment; the large bronze bowl with its stand; 17the curtains with the posts and stands that go around the courtyard and the curtain at the entrance; 18the pegs and ropes for the tent and the courtyard; 19and the finely woven priestly clothes for Aaron and his sons.
Gifts for the Lord
20Moses finished speaking, and everyone left. 21Then those who wanted to bring gifts to the Lord, brought them to be used for the sacred tent, the worship services, and the priestly clothes. 22Men and women came willingly and gave all kinds of gold jewelry such as pins, earrings, rings, and necklaces. 23Everyone brought their blue, purple, and red wool, their fine linen, and their cloth made of goat hair, as well as their ram skins dyed red and their fine leather. 24Anyone who had silver or bronze or acacia wood brought it as a gift to the Lord.
25The women who were good at weaving cloth brought the blue, purple, and red wool and the fine linen they had made. 26And the women who knew how to make cloth from goat hair were glad to do so.
27The leaders brought different kinds of jewels to be sewn on the special clothes and the breastpiece for the high priest. 28They also brought sweet-smelling spices to be mixed with the incense and olive oil that were for the lamps and for ordaining the priests. 29Moses had told the people what the Lord wanted them to do, and many of them decided to bring their gifts.
Bezalel and Oholiab
(Exodus 31.1-11)
30Moses said to the people of Israel:
The Lord has chosen Bezalel#35.30 Bezalel: See the note at 31.2. of the Judah tribe. 31-33Not only has the Lord filled him with his Spirit, but he has given him wisdom and made him a skilled craftsman who can create objects of art with gold, silver, bronze, precious stones, and wood. 34The Lord is urging him and Oholiab#35.34 Oholiab: Hebrew “Oholiab son of Ahisamach.” from the tribe of Dan to teach others. 35And he has given them all kinds of artistic skills, including the ability to design and embroider with blue, purple, and red wool and to weave fine linen.
