Exodus 31

CHAPTER 31
1And the Lord spake to Moses, saying,
2Lo! I have called Bezaleel by name, the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the lineage of Judah;
3and I have filled him with the spirit of God, with wisdom, and under-standing, and knowing in all work,
4to find out, or cast, whatever thing may be made subtly of gold, and silver, and brass,
5and marble, and gems, and of diversity of woods.
6And I have given to him a fellow, Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the kindred of Dan; and I have put in their hearts the wisdom of each learned man, that they make all things which I have commanded to thee;
7the tabernacle of [the] bond of peace, and the ark of witnessing, and the propitiatory, or the table, that is thereon, and all the vessels of the tabernacle;
8also the board, and the vessels thereof, the cleanest candlestick with his vessels, and the altars of incense,
9and of burnt sacrifice, and all the vessels of them; the great washing vessel with his foundament;
10 [the] holy clothes in service to Aaron the priest, and to his sons, that they be set in their office in holy things;
11the oil of anointing, and the incense of sweet smelling spiceries in the saintuary; they shall make all these things that I have commanded to thee.
12And the Lord spake to Moses, saying,
13Speak thou to the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, See ye that ye keep my sabbath, for it is a sign betwixt me and you in your generations; that ye know, that I am the Lord, which hallow[eth] you.
14Keep ye my sabbath, for it is holy to you; he that defouleth it, shall die by death; the soul of him, that doeth work in the sabbath, shall perish from the midst of his people.
15Six days ye shall do work; in the seventh day is sabbath, the holy rest to the Lord; each man that doeth work in this day shall die.
16The sons of Israel keep [the] sabbath, and hallow it in their generations; it is a covenant everlasting
17betwixt me and the sons of Israel, and it is a sign everlasting; for in six days God made heaven and earth, and in the seventh day he ceased of work.
18And when he had [ful] filled to speak to Moses, the Lord gave to Moses, in the hill of Sinai, two stone tables of witnessing, written with the finger of God.

The Lord Chooses Bezalel and Oholiab
(Exodus 35.30—36.1)
1The Lord said to Moses:
2I have chosen Bezalel#31.2 Bezalel: Hebrew “Bezalel, son of Uri and grandson of Hur.” from the Judah tribe to make the sacred tent and its furnishings. 3-5Not only have I filled him with my Spirit, but I have given him wisdom and made him a skilled craftsman who can create objects of art with gold, silver, bronze, precious stones, and wood. 6I have appointed Oholiab#31.6 Oholiab: Hebrew “Oholiab son of Ahisamach.” from the tribe of Dan to work with him, and I have also given skills to those who will help them make everything exactly as I have commanded you: 7-11the sacred tent with its furnishings, the sacred chest with its place of mercy, the table with all that is on it, the lamp with its equipment, the incense altar, the altar for sacrifices with its equipment, the bronze bowl with its stand, the beautiful priestly clothes for Aaron and his sons, the oil for dedication and ordination services, and the sweet-smelling incense for the holy place.
Laws for the Sabbath
12-13Moses told the Israelites that the Lord had said:
The Sabbath belongs to me. Now I command you and your descendants to always obey the laws of the Sabbath. By doing this, you will know that I have chosen you as my own. 14-15#Ex 20.8-11; 23.12; 34.21; 35.2; Lv 23.3; Dt 5.12-14. Keep the Sabbath holy. You have six days to do your work, but the Sabbath is mine, and it must remain a day of rest. If you work on the Sabbath, you will no longer be part of my people, and you will be put to death.
16Every generation of Israelites must respect the Sabbath. 17#Ex 20.11. This day will always serve as a reminder, both to me and to the Israelites, that I made the heavens and the earth in six days, then on the seventh day I rested and relaxed.
18When God had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two flat stones on which he had written all his laws with his own hand.
