Isaiah 49:15

The Bible repeatedly uses words and imagery that describe God caring for his people like a mother. These images are both a comfort and an inspiration as we mother our own children. This 3 day series, presented by Words of Hope, celebrates God's fierce and tender love, and our own motherhood too.

“Mom” – for most people, this word is a term of endearment. Mothers, whether working outside the home or stay-at-home-moms, married or single, generally are the most deeply connected with their sons and daughters. From the start of their children’s lives, moms play a vital role. They feed and clothe them, nurse their physical wounds, comfort their emotional hurts, and fiercely protect them (think “Mama Bear”). Let’s take a look.

In various Bible verses, we read about God’s hands holding us. This is a touching image of God’s care and provision. The image becomes even more powerful when we consider that the hands holding us bear the scars of Jesus’ violent death on the cross on our behalf.
