Psalms 3
3
A Psalm by David, when he fled from Absalom his son.
1Yahweh, how my adversaries have increased!
Many are those who rise up against me.
2Many there are who say of my soul,
“There is no help for him in God.”#3:2 The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “אֱלֹהִ֑ים” (Elohim). Selah.
3But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me,
my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
4I cry to Yahweh with my voice,
and he answers me out of his holy hill. Selah.
5I laid myself down and slept.
I awakened, for Yahweh sustains me.
6I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people
who have set themselves against me on every side.
7Arise, Yahweh!
Save me, my God!
For you have struck all of my enemies on the cheek bone.
You have broken the teeth of the wicked.
8Salvation belongs to Yahweh.
May your blessing be on your people. Selah.

1A psalm of David, when he fled from Avshalom his son:
2Adonai, how many enemies I have!
How countless are those attacking me;
3how countless those who say of me,
“There is no salvation for him in God.” (Selah)
4But you, Adonai, are a shield for me;
you are my glory, you lift my head high.
5With my voice I call out to Adonai,
and he answers me from his holy hill. (Selah)
6I lie down and sleep, then wake up again,
because Adonai sustains me.
7I am not afraid of the tens of thousands
set against me on every side.
8Rise up, Adonai!
Save me, my God!
For you slap all my enemies in the face,
you smash the teeth of the wicked.
9Victory comes from Adonai;
may your blessing rest on your people. (Selah)
