We live in a culture that emphasizes marriage, often at the expense of singleness. In the Kenyan context, nearly every single person is confronted with the question, "hujapata mtu bado?" (You've not found anyone yet?) For generations, the predominant message has been that marriage and bearing children constitute the complete and happy life. While marriage is highly esteemed throughout Scripture, and it does bring joy & fulfillment, the Bible also affirms the call to singleness. This devotional is a call for single people to display the Christ-exalting truths that shine more clearly through singleness than through marriage.

Jesus said, “Come to me all you who are weary and I will give you rest.” This plan is an invitation to partake in God’s abiding rest with many practical ways to make rest a lifestyle. This one discipline could deepen your intimacy with God and change the fruitfulness of your life.
