Numbers 2
2
1The Lord told Moses and Aaron, 2“The Israelites are to set up their camp around the Tent of Meeting but some distance from it. Every member of each tribe will camp under their own flag and family banner. 3The tribal division of Judah is to camp under their flag on the east side. Their leader is Nahshon, son of Amminadab, 4and he has 74,600 men. 5The tribe of Issachar will camp next to them. Their leader is Nethanel, son of Zuar, 6and he has 54,400 men. 7Next is the tribe of Zebulun. Their leader is Eliab, son of Helon, 8and he has 57,400 men. 9So the total number of men in the area of the camp of Judah is 186,400. When it's time to march out,#2:9. “When it's time to leave”: supplied for clarity. they are the ones who will lead.
10The tribal division of Reuben is to camp under their flag on the south side. Their leader is Elizur, son of Shedeur, 11and he has 46,500 men. 12The tribe of Simeon will camp next to them. Their leader is Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai, 13and he has 59,300 men. 14Next is the tribe of Gad. Their leader is Eliasaph, son of Deuel, 15and he has 45,650 men. 16So the total number of men in the area of the camp of Reuben is 151,450. They shall march out in second place.
17The Tent of Meeting which stands at the center of the camp is to accompany the Levites. They are to march out in the same order as they set up camp, each in their rightful place under their flag.
18The tribal division of Ephraim is to camp under their flag on the west side. Their leader is Elishama, son of Ammihud, 19and he has 40,500 men. 20The tribe of Manasseh will camp next to them. Their leader is Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, 21and he has 32,200 men. 22Next is the tribe of Benjamin. Their leader is Abidan, son of Gideoni, 23and he has 35,400 men. 24So the total number of men in the area of the camp of Ephraim is 108,100. They shall march out in third place
25The tribal division of Dan is to camp under their flag on the north side. Their leader is Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai, 26and he has 62,700 men. 27The tribe of Asher will camp next to them. Their leader is Pagiel, son of Ocran, 28and he has 41,500 men. 29Next is the tribe of Naphtali. Their leader is Ahira son of Enan, 30and he has 53,400 men. 31So the total number of men in the area of the camp of Dan is 157,600;. They shall march out last, with their flags.”
32This sums up the registration of the Israelites, carried out by family. The final total of those counted in the camps by their tribal division was 603,550. 33However, the Levites were not counted among the other Israelites, following the Lord's instructions to Moses.
34The Israelites did everything the Lord had ordered Moses. They set up their camps under their flags in their assigned positions, and marched out in the same order, each with their own tribe and family.

The Camps and Leaders of the Tribes
1And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 2Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father's house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch. 3And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Ammin´adab shall be captain of the children of Judah. 4And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred. 5And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Is´sachar: and Nethan´e-el the son of Zu´ar shall be captain of the children of Is´sachar. 6And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred. 7Then the tribe of Zeb´ulun: and Eli´ab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children of Zeb´ulun. 8And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred. 9All that were numbered in the camp of Judah were a hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies: these shall first set forth.
10On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Eli´zur the son of Shede´ur. 11And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six thousand and five hundred. 12And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelu´mi-el the son of Zurishad´dai. 13And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred. 14Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eli´asaph the son of Reu´el. 15And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty. 16All that were numbered in the camp of Reuben were a hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, throughout their armies: and they shall set forth in the second rank.
17Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.
18On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of E´phra-im according to their armies: and the captain of the sons of E´phra-im shall be Elish´ama the son of Ammi´hud. 19And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred. 20And by him shall be the tribe of Manas´seh: and the captain of the children of Manas´seh shall be Gama´li-el the son of Pedah´zur. 21And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred. 22Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Ab´idan the son of Gide-o´ni. 23And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred. 24All that were numbered of the camp of E´phra-im were a hundred thousand and eight thousand and a hundred, throughout their armies: and they shall go forward in the third rank.
25The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north side by their armies: and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahi-e´zer the son of Ammishad´dai. 26And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred. 27And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pag´i-el the son of Ocran. 28And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred. 29Then the tribe of Naph´tali: and the captain of the children of Naph´tali shall be Ahi´ra the son of Enan. 30And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred. 31All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan were a hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred: they shall go hindmost with their standards.
32These are those which were numbered of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers: all those that were numbered of the camps throughout their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty. 33But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the Lord commanded Moses.
34And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.
