John 2
2
1Two days#2:1. Literally, “on the third day” (by inclusive reckoning). later a wedding was held at Cana in Galilee, and Jesus' mother was there. 2Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3The wine ran out, so Jesus' mother told him, “They don't have any more wine.”
4“Mother, why should you involve me?#2:4. Literally, “What to me and to you?” (that is, “What has this got to do with me or you?”) My time hasn't come yet,” he replied.
5His mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6Standing nearby were six stone jars used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each one holding twenty to thirty gallons.#2:6. Literally, “two or three measures.” 7“Fill the jars with water,” Jesus told them. So they filled them right up. 8Then he told them, “Pour some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So they took him some. 9The master of ceremonies didn't know where it had come from, only the servants knew. But when he tasted the water that had been turned to wine, he called the bridegroom over.
10“Everyone serves out the best wine first,” he told him, “and once people have had plenty to drink, then they put out the cheaper wine. But you have kept the best wine till last!” 11This was the very first of Jesus' miraculous signs, and was performed in Cana of Galilee. Here he revealed his glory, and his disciples put their trust in him.
12After this Jesus left for Capernaum with his mother, brothers, and disciples where they stayed for a few days. 13Since it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went on to Jerusalem. 14In the Temple he found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves; and money-changers sitting at their tables. 15He made a whip out of cords and drove everyone out of the Temple, along with the sheep and cattle, scattering coins of the money-changers and turning over their tables. 16He ordered the dove-sellers, “Take these things out of here! Don't turn my Father's house into a market!” 17His disciples remembered the Scripture that says, “My devotion for your house is like a fire burning inside me!”#2:17. Quoting Psalms 69:9.
18The Jewish leaders reacted, asking him, “What right do you have to do this? Show us some miraculous sign to prove it!”
19Jesus replied, “Destroy this Temple, and in three days I'll raise it up!”
20“It took forty-six years to build this Temple, and you're going to raise it up in three days?” the Jewish leaders replied. 21But the Temple Jesus was speaking of was his body. 22After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered what he said, and so they believed in Scripture and Jesus' own words.
23As a result of the miracles Jesus did while he was in Jerusalem during the Passover, many believed in him. 24But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew all about people. 25He didn't need anyone to tell him about human nature for he knew the way people think.

Yoḥanan (John) 2
2
1And on the third day there was a wedding in Qanah of Galil, and the mother of יהושע was there.
2And both יהושע and His taught ones were invited to the wedding.
3And when they were short of wine, the mother of יהושע said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4יהושע said to her, “Woman, what is that to Me and to you? My hour has not yet come.”
5His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He says to you.”
6And there were six stone water-jugs standing there, according to the mode of cleansing of the Yehuḏim, each holding two or three measures.
7יהושע said to them, “Fill the water-jugs with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
8And He said to them, “Now draw out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.
9But when the master of the feast had tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know where it came from – though the servants who had drawn the water knew – the master of the feast called the bridegroom,
10and said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when they have drunk, then that which is poorer. You have kept the good wine until now.”
11This, the beginning of the signs, יהושע did in Qanah of Galil, and manifested His esteem. And His taught ones believed in Him.
12After this He went down to Kephar Naḥum, He and His mother, and His brothers, and His taught ones. And there they stayed not many days.
13And the Pĕsaḥ of the Yehuḏim was near, and יהושע went up to Yerushalayim.
14And He found in the Set-apart Place those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers sitting.
15And having made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the Set-apart Place, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the moneychangers’ coins and overturned the tables.
16And He said to those selling doves, “Take these away! Do not make the house of My Father a house of merchandise!”
17And His taught ones remembered that it was written, “The ardour for Your house has eaten Me up.”# Psa. 69:9
18And the Yehuḏim answered and said to Him, “What sign do You show to us, since You are doing these?”
19יהושע answered and said to them, “Destroy this Dwelling Place, and in three days I shall raise it.”
20Then the Yehuḏim said, “It took forty-six years to build this Dwelling Place, and You are going to raise it in three days?”
21But He spoke about the Dwelling Place of His body.
22So, when He was raised from the dead, His taught ones remembered that He said this to them. And they believed the Scripture and the word which יהושע had said.
23And when He was in Yerushalayim at the Pĕsaḥ, at the festival, many believed in His Name when they saw the signs which He was doing.
24But יהושע was not entrusting Himself to them, because He knew all men,
25and had no need that anyone should witness of man, for He knew what was in man.
