Jeremiah 27
27
1This message came to Jeremiah from the Lord at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah,#27:1. Most Hebrew manuscripts have the name “Jehoiakim” instead of Zedekiah, but this does not fit with the rest of the chapter (Zedekiah is clearly identified in verses 3 and 12). son of Josiah, king of Judah. 2This is what the Lord told me: Make for yourself a harness and a yoke and strap it on your neck 3Send a message to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, and Sidon through the ambassadors who have come to Jerusalem to see Zedekiah king of Judah.
4Give them this order from the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, to convey to their masters: 5It was by my strength and creative power that I made the earth and the human beings and animals that live there, and I give it to those who are right in my sight. 6Now I have placed my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in charge of all these countries. I have even given him control over the wild animals. 7All nations will serve him and his son and grandson, until the time that his own land comes under the control of other nations and powerful kings. 8Any nation or kingdom that doesn't serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and doesn't submit to him#27:8. “Submit to him”: literally, “place its neck under his yoke.” Also verse 11. I will punish that nation by war and famine and plague, declares the Lord, until I let Nebuchadnezzar destroy it completely.
9Don't you listen to your prophets, your fortune-tellers, your interpreters of dreams, your mediums, or your magicians when they tell you, “You won't serve the king of Babylon.” 10They're prophesying a lie to you that will lead to your removal from your country. I will expel you and you will die. 11But a nation that submits to the king of Babylon and serves him, I will leave in its own land, to cultivate it and live in it, declares the Lord.
12I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah: Submit to the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and live! 13Why should you and your people die by war and famine and plague, as the Lord has said he would bring against any nation that does not serve the king of Babylon? 14Don't listen to messages from prophets who say, “You won't serve the king of Babylon,” for they are prophesying a lie to you. 15I didn't send them, declares the Lord, and yet they are giving false prophecies in my name. So I will expel you and you will die—you and the prophets who prophesy to you.
16Then I told the priests and all the people, This is what the Lord says: Don't listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying, “Look! The objects from the Lord's Temple will shortly be returned from Babylon.” They are prophesying a lie to you. 17Don't listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon and live! Why should this city be destroyed?
18If they are truly prophets and really have the word of the Lord with them, they should be pleading now with the Lord Almighty that what's left in the Lord's Temple, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, isn't taken to Babylon.
19This what the Lord Almighty says about the pillars, the bronze sea, the bases, and the rest of the objects that are left in Jerusalem— 20everything Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon didn't take when he took Jehoiachin #27:20. Here given as Jeconiah.son of Jehoiakim king of Judah into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, together with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem. 21Again, this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says about the objects left in the Lord's Temple, in the palace of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem. 22They will be taken away to Babylon and will stay there until the time I see to them again, declares the Lord. Only then will I bring them back so they will be in Jerusalem again.

Yirmeyah 27
27
1In the beginning of the reign of Y'hoyakim Ben Yoshiyah Melech Yehudah came this davar unto Yirmeyah from Hashem, saying,
2Thus saith Hashem to me: Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy tzavar (neck),
3And send them to Melech Edom, and to Melech Moav, and to Melech Bnei Ammon, and to Melech Tzor, and to Melech Tzidon, by the yad of the malachim which come to Yerushalayim unto Tzidkiyah Melech Yehudah;
4And command them to say unto their adonim, Thus saith Hashem Tzva'os Elohei Yisroel: Thus shall ye say unto your adonim;
5I have made ha'aretz (the earth), ha'adam and habehemah that are upon the face of the earth, by My great ko'ach and by My outstretched zero'a, and have given it unto whom it seemed yashar unto Me.
6And now have I given all these lands into the yad Nevukhadnetzar Melech Bavel, Avdi (My servant); and the beasts of the sadeh have I given him also to serve him.
7And all Goyim shall serve him, and bno, and ben bno, until the very time of his land come; and then many Goyim and great melachim shall make him serve [in bondage to] them.
8And it shall come to pass, that the goy (nation) and mamlachah (kingdom) which will not serve the same Nevukhadnetzar Melech Bavel, and that will not put their tzavar (neck) under the yoke of HaMelech Bavel, that nation will I punish, saith Hashem, with the cherev, and with the ra'av (famine), and with the dever, until I have consumed them by his yad.
9Therefore do not pay heed to your nevi'im, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your soothsayers, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve Melech Bavel;
10For they prophesy sheker unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.
11But the Goyim that bring their tzavar (neck) under the yoke of the Melech Bavel, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own adamah, saith Hashem; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
12I spoke also to Tzidkiyah Melech Yehudah according to all these Devarim, saying, Bring your tzavarot (necks) under the yoke of Melech Bavel, and serve Him and his people, and live.
13Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the cherev, by the ra'av (famine), and by the dever, as Hashem hath spoken against the goy (nation) that will not serve Melech Bavel?
14Therefore do not pay heed unto the devarim of the nevi'im that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve Melech Bavel; for they prophesy sheker unto you.
15For I have not sent them, saith Hashem, yet they prophesy sheker in My name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the nevi'im that prophesy unto you.
16Also I spoke to the kohanim and to all this people, saying, Thus saith Hashem: Do not pay heed to the devarim of your nevi'im that prophesy unto you, saying, Hinei, the K'lei Beis Hashem shall now shortly be brought back from Bavel; for they prophesy sheker unto you.
17Do not pay heed unto them; serve Melech Bavel, and live; why should this ir be laid waste?
18But if they are nevi'im, and if the Devar Hashem be with them, let them now make intercession to Hashem Tzva'os, that the kelim (vessels) which are left in the Beis Hashem, and in the Bais HaMelech Yehudah, and at Yerushalayim, go not to Bavel.
19For thus saith Hashem Tzva'os concerning the Ammudim (Pillars) and concerning the Yam (Sea), and concerning the Mekhonot (Stands) [supporting the lavers], and concerning the remainder of the kelim that remain in this ir.
20Which Nevukhadnetzar Melech Bavel took not, when he carried away captive Yechanyah Ben Y'hoyakim Melech Yehudah from Yerushalayim to Bavel, and all the nobles of Yehudah and Yerushalayim;
21Thus saith Hashem Tzva'os Elohei Yisroel, concerning the kelim (vessels) that remain in the Beis Hashem, and in the Bais HaMelech Yehudah and Yerushalayim;
22They shall be carried to Bavel, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith Hashem; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this makon.
